‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 6 Finale: Will Young Ned Stark Return And Reveal Jon Snow’s Parentage?

While the last couple of episodes of Game of Thrones have concentrated on the battles currently underway in Westeros, fans are still wondering if there will be more of Bran’s greensight in the Season 6 finale of Game of Thrones. In particular, they’re wondering whether the conclusion of the Tower of Joy scene involving a young Ned Stark will be shown.

SPOILER ALERT: This article discusses the Season 6 finale of HBO’s Game of Thrones. Please proceed with caution if you wish to avoid spoilers.

Game of Thrones fans were excited to see Ned Stark return to the show in Season 6 — even if it was just in a flashback to the battle of the Tower of Joy. But for fans of the L + R = J theory, the scene showing a young Ned Stark (Robert Aramayo) signified a possible confirmation of the theory. But then, Bran’s (Isaac Hempstead Wright) greensight was cut short, and nothing has been shown in relation to the Tower of Joy battle since.

The significance of the Tower of Joy scene involves the L + R = J theory. This theory centers around the assumption that Jon Snow was conceived after Rhaegar Targaryen raped Lyanna Stark, Ned’s sister. In the Season 6 flashbacks to the Tower of Joy, a woman’s screams are heard from the tower. For fans of the L + R = J theory, this is an indicator that Lyanna is in the Tower of joy, potentially giving birth to Jon Snow. In the book series the TV show is based on, Ned finally goes into the tower and finds Lyanna there, dying. Some fans speculate that Lyanna was actually dying as a result of childbirth and asked her brother Ned to keep Jon’s parentage a secret. As a result of this, Ned claimed Jon as his own bastard son and the mystery of who Jon’s mother really is was born along with the tiny baby. But will TV fans get to see the culmination of the Tower of Joy greensight in Season 6 of Game of Thrones?

According to an interview Robert Aramayo did with the Hull Daily Mail, his character of the young Ned Stark will return again in Episode 10 (entitled “The Winds of Winter”) of Game of Thrones. While there appears to be no online version of this interview, a photograph of the full article was supplied on Wiki of Thrones. This article was published around the time of Robert’s appearance in Episode 3 of Game of Thrones but makes reference to when Aramayo will be appearing. “He will appear again briefly in episode six before another significant showing in episode ten,” the article reported. A “significant showing,” that sounds intriguing. It also sounds like Jon Snow’s (Kit Harington) backstory could finally be explained.

The official teaser video for Episode 10 of Game of Thrones, gives very little away in regards to the appearance of the young Ned Stark. The only hint fans might get to see him is the brief image of Bran Stark. And this is certainly no proof Bran will have another flashback to the Tower of Joy, even if he does make an appearance in the Season 6 finale. In fact, even if Bran were to use his greensight in Episode 10, there is no guarantee he will return to that point in time. And considering the last time fans saw Bran’s greensight, it resulted in the death of Hodor (Kristian Nairn), who’s to say Bran will ever want to use his greensight again? Regardless though, it is likely this is the only way the young Ned Stark will make his appearance in Episode 10, so Bran will have to get over the death of Hodor and get on with revealing Jon’s parentage in the Season 6 finale.
