Caroline Kennedy talked politics in an interview on CBS This Morning with Charlie Rose and Norah O’Donnell, but the conversation took a diversion into her musical preferences. Rose asked Kennedy if she listens to any of Taylor Swift’s music, likely probing for hints on the family’s feelings regarding Swift’s romance with Conor Kennedy.

Kennedy will address the Democratic National Convention tonight, along with expected stars Eva Longoria, James Taylor and Marc Anthony, presumably to defend President Barack Obama and address her feelings on his political opponent, Mitt Romney. “I don’t think that much about Mitt Romney,” she said with a laugh. “I think about President Obama. I really do.”

“Are you listening to any Taylor Swift songs these days?” asked Charlie Rose, digging for hints as to the family’s opinion on the romance between Swift and Conor Kennedy. “Romeo. Romeo, when I think about Mitt Romney, only,” she replied.

USAToday notes that Kennedy was likely referencing Swift’s Love Song, which uses the name “Romeo” several times. They also note, of course, that Kennedy is concerned with bigger issues than whether or not Swift made the cut on her playlist.

Of course, the hosts could have taken the direct approach like TMZ did when they asked Rep. Patrick Kennedy what the family thinks about Swift’s romance with Conor. “We love Taylor Swift … she’s been a great friend and we’re happy for Conor,” he said, adding, “If she wants to be in the family, she’s already a part of it.”

Fox notes that the romance may end up being short-lived, as Swift is set to perform at the VMAs the same day that Conor moves into boarding school.
