Ubisoft Club Is Giving Away Free PC Games To Celebrate 30th Anniversary Of Ubisoft, ‘Prince Of Persia’ Will Be The First Download

It’s hard to deny the gravitas of Ubisoft’s name in the video games industry. Over their 30 years of existence, they’ve been responsible for some of the most successful video game franchises to exist, across just about every video games console to exist. Ubisoft is now set to celebrate their 30th anniversary, and will do so by giving away free PC games to download and keep, with the first title available to download being one of Ubisoft’s finest titles, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

According to The Verge, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is widely credited as not only one of Ubisoft’s finest releases, but also one of the finest video games of this century. It stood as the grand reboot of Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia series and brought with it a good deal of success for the publisher. The title was originally released in 2003 for PlayStation, Xbox, and of course, PC.

Ubisoft has now announced plans to give away one free game each month to celebrate the company’s 30th anniversary and the first title available is one of their finest, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Whilst the game hasn’t received widespread acclaim for its visual appearance, it more than makes up for itself when it comes to fiendish puzzles and a tremendous sense of adventure. Plus, it serves as a fantastic opportunity for Ubisoft to introduce younger gamers to a generation of gaming gone by.

That being said, according to Digital Journal, getting your hands on Ubisoft’s free download of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time isn’t quite as simple as you might think. The offer is redeemable with a membership of the Ubisoft Club, which is free to sign-up to. In order to then download and play your copy of Prince of Persia, Ubisoft requires that you do so through their Uplay platform. However, both services are completely free to use, making this download absolutely free.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time won’t be to everyone’s tastes and that’s not a problem as far as Ubisoft are concerned. Over the course of the next six months, they’ll be releasing a new free title to download and keep at the start of each month. At the moment, it’s worth remembering that the titles are only available to PC users through the aforementioned medium, and it remains to be seen whether or not Ubisoft will extend the promotion to PlayStation 4 or Xbox One users.

Their 30th anniversary is undeniably a very exciting time for Ubisoft, a now veteran of the video games industry. With that in mind, it’s unlikely that the celebrations will stop at a few free PC games, with Ubisoft also likely set to cash-in on the occasion with special edition releases.

Whilst celebrating their rich past, Ubisoft are also keen to continue looking forward. Much like many other publishers in the video games industry, they’ve just come out of E3, where they’ve shown the titles they have penned for release over the remainder of 2016 and into 2017. Ubisoft has received widespread acclaim for its showing at E3 this year, with titles including a sequel to South Park: The Stick of Truth, a new Tom Clancy game, and of course, the next instalment in Ubisoft’s hit Just Dance series.
