Did Katy Perry Just Throw Shade Taylor Swift Via Her New Perfume?

There’s no love lost between Katy Perry and Taylor Swift.

Or that seems to be the case, at least, if Perry’s new perfume is any indication. As reported by Entertainment Tonight, Katy Perry’s new perfume is called “Mad Love,” which as we all know is a lyric from one of Taylor Swift’s most popular songs, “Bad Blood.”

For those who haven’t been keeping up with the ongoing feud between Perry and Swift, “Bad Blood” was a song written by the “Blank Space” singer to shade Katy. In a 2014 Rolling Stone interview, Taylor made it known to the public that she was angry at an unnamed female pop artist for “stealing” some of her dancers for a tour.

“For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not,” Swift told the magazine. “She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'”

Perry didn’t take the remark lying down, as she subtly threw shade at Swift via Twitter, writing, “Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing…”

If there was any doubt that the tweet was directed at Taylor, Perry put it to rest by confirming to Billboard that the tweet was about Taylor, saying, “If somebody is trying to defame my character, you’re going to hear about it.”

Since then, the two highly successful female pop stars have waged a shade war in every interview and every award show they’ve participated in.

Taylor Swift seemed to have backed down from the feud when she told GQ last October that “Bad Blood” is just about “losing a friend” and was never written to hurl shade at any particular person.

“I never said anything that would point a finger in the specific direction of one specific person, and I can sleep at night knowing that,” Swift explained.

Early in February, Perry gave new life to the ongoing feud by claiming that she invited Swift to her pre-Grammy party but the “Shake it Off” singer never showed up. Called “An Evening to Celebrate the Creators,” the pre-Grammy party hosted by Katy Perry was billed as an event where artists and producers could connect with each other without interference from the media.

Katy Perry is not the only celebrity Taylor Swift is feuding with these days. The 26-year-old singer recently broke up with Calvin Harris after 15 months of dating. Amid the surrounding controversy around Swift over her PDA pics with new boyfriend Tom Hiddleston, Kim Kardashian called out Taylor in a recent GQ interview, claiming that she likes to “play the victim,” and that she did so when Kanye’s song “Famous” was released. Kim accused Swift of “flipping out” about the controversial “Famous” verse, saying that the singer denied giving West her approval to include the lyric in the track even though she already approved it. And Kim said that she has the video to prove it.

“She [Taylor Swift] totally approved that. She totally knew that that was coming out. She wanted to all of a sudden act like she didn’t. I swear, my husband gets so much s**t for things [when] he really was doing proper protocol and even called to get it approved … Totally gave the okay,” Kardashian told GQ.

Katy Perry seems to be thrilled upon discovering that Swift may have “flipped out” about Kanye’s verse in “Famous,” as has been claimed by an insider for Hollywood Life.

“Katy is happy that people are getting to know that Taylor is not as squeaky clean as she appears to be,” said the source.
