is reporting that former NBC News special correspondent Tom Brokaw was rushed to a hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina on Thursday morning after an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

According to the network, Brokaw felt “light-headed” on the set of the news-talk program, which has been originating this week from Charlotte, the site of the 2012 Democratic National Convention.

“Out of an abundance of caution,” the 72-year-old was taken to a local hospital, which was not identified. NBC said he was being evaluated and “is in good spirits.”

The legendary news anchor later hopped on Twitter to confirm all was well as he wrote:

“All is well Early AM I mistakenly took a half dose of Ambien and made less sense than usual. Made a better comeback than Giants…”

Since stepping down from his post as as the anchor of NBC Nightly News in 2004, Brokaw has remained a fixture in election coverage.

The NY Daily notes he has been covering the conventions for the cable network for the last week and a half, and has been making multiple television appearances per day.

Brokaw’s latest book, The Time of Our Lives: A conversation about America hit shelves earlier this week.
