Watch England Vs. Sri Lanka Cricket 1st ODI Live Stream: Sri Lanka Seek Redemption In Shorter Format Series

Following the England Test cricket series victory over Sri Lanka, the One Day International squads take over for a match that will stream live Tuesday, the first of five in an ODI series that will see Sri Lanka and Captain Angelo Matthews looking to turn things around following two dominant England Test victories and a draw.

For England, whose one-day captain Eoin Morgan now takes the helm as Test skipper Alastair Cook steps aside, the first ODI marks one year since Morgan led England to an electric ODI series victory over visiting New Zealand — a series that revitalized England limited overs cricket after a dismal 2015 Cricket World Cup showing in which the team stalled out without reaching the quarterfinals — and looked drab and uninspired doing it.

But those days are now behind Morgan and his squad, with the England one-day game showing dramatic and steady improvements that culminated with England falling just one heartbreaking over short of winning the T20 Cricket World Cup earlier this year in India.

“I’d like to think we can reconnect with what we did last year,” Morgan said on Monday.

“Given the right conditions and opportunity there’s no reason why we can’t. We’re still at the beginning of building towards what will hopefully be a successful World Cup in 2019,” he continued. “There is a bit more expectation on us after what has happened in the last year and it’s important we relish that.”

The last time England faced Sri Lanka in a limited overs match, it was in their final group stage match at the T20 World Cup in Delhi, India. England hung on for a nail-biting 10-run victory that put them through to the Final Four of that championship competition.

Fans in the United States can log in to the live stream at 9 a.m. Eastern Time, 6 a.m. Pacific.

Despite England’s dominance in the recently-completed Test series, the one day game is a different situation, and Morgan is wary of Sri Lanka’s prowess in the shorter, 50-overs format.

“They have found it tough work since they came here, but ODI cricket comes more naturally to them,” Morgan said. “They are ranked above us, so we won’t take them for granted and we are looking to ourselves to build and put performances in.”

After four more ODI matches, the Sri Lanka tour of England wraps up with a single T20 International game on July 5.
