Monica Lewinsky‘s former rabbi is slated to give a benediction at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday, shortly after former President Bill Clinton addresses the crowd.

In what is either an extremely awkward schedule mishap or perhaps a shrewd attempt at getting more attention on the DNC happening this week in Charlotte, The Daily Caller reports that Lewinsky’s childhood rabbi, David Wolpe, will give the benediction on the same night as Clinton’s speech.

Wolpe, who Politico notes is among the world’s most influential rabbis, hails from Sinai Temple in Los Angeles where Lewinsky and her family attended for years. Lewinsky of course rose to fame for her affair with President Clinton during his tenure in the White House. But the connection isn’t a subtle one, as Wolpe was an outspoken critic of the president following the scandal.

“He was a brilliant, talented, extraordinary child, and for the leader of the United States we need an adult,” Wolpe told his congregation in the late 1990s.

It is not as though Wolpe has become a fan of former President Clinton in the ensuing years. Even as early as 2009, he criticized Clinton in a Washington Post Op-Ed.

“During the Lewinsky scandal, it was the lying and smearing of Monica Lewinsky that marked the low point of the event, not the sex, which was primarily an issue for the individuals and families involved,” Wolpe wrote.

Don’t expect either Clinton or Wolpe to add to the distraction of sharing the same podium on the same night by addressing the issue. Clinton’s task at the DNC will be to talk up President Barrack Obama while Wolpe has said his benediction will address “the ideals animating the United States.”

Bill Clinton is scheduled to speak sometime after 10 pm. Monica Lewinsky’s former rabbi is scheduled to speak following the roll call at the end of the evening.
