Ducks Cross Highway Safely As Cars Swerve To Avoid Them [Video]
Ducks crossing a highway successfully has become the latest viral video, as a brave mother duck safely escorted her nine babies across a busy Toronto freeway, under the watch of a news helicopter.
The ducks were spotted in May as they darted under a concrete barrier separating them from the busy Canadian highway, into unsuspecting traffic, reports The Daily Mail.
A WTSP helicopter spotted the mother duck, videotaping the incident, which lasted about one minute. In the video, mother and ducklings dart across the highway, trying to avoid the cars zooming by them.
At one point, it appears the mama duck may turn back, but she changes her mind, bravely running on as her babies are blown across the road by the wind from passing trucks.
The mother duck and her nine babies all survived the encounter, despite several near misses as drivers attempt to avoid squishing them on the busy interstate.
Wavy notes that the whole ordeal of the mother duck leading her nine babies across the Toronto highway will remind 80s kids of the Atari game “Frogger,” where the player attempts to help a frog safely cross the highway. Thankfully, unlike the Atari game, the mama and her ducklings safely cross the highway. Wavy adds that:
“You get a bird’s eye view of this drama as it unfolds back in May as a trail of ducklings loyally follow their mama duck across several lanes of interstate traffic.”
