A video of an Ozarks boat crash has gone viral after clearly capturing a violent on-water accident from an unusual vantage point has captivated the web.

The clip of the Ozarks boat crash has been viewed by more than 900,000 people on YouTube, showing the footage taken from a camera showing the inside of the boat (at a high-resolution) and how the crash tossed the previously happy boat occupants around like rag dolls.

The Ozarks boat crash clip was uploaded by user “ohhellmaybe,” who describes the accident:

“A boating accident at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri was captured on a shocking video last Friday. The crash happened when the Fountain powerboat plowed into a large wake of another vessel at high speed. The boat slammed from side to side causing injuries to the driver and six passengers. Five were taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for minor to moderate injuries.”

The August 24 Ozarks boat crash in Missouri was determined to be the fault of the boat’s driver, Melvin Carter, who it was later discovered was driving at speeds of up to 70 mph, creating unsafe conditions. Six of the seven people on the boat were treated for minor to moderate injuries after the Ozarks boat crash.

According to local police Sgt. Jerry Callahan, the Ozarks boat crash could have been far worse, and boaters should remember to operate crafts at safe speeds:

“We are very fortunate that none of the passengers were thrown out of the vessel. Especially since falls overboard are the most common fatality accident on a boat. Slow down and allow yourself plenty of time to reach your destination whether in a vehicle or by boat. You need to be ready to expect higher numbers of traffic on the water and road.”

Were you shocked by the clip of the Ozarks boat crash?

What a freaking idiot…..why were you going that fast in the first place….there were other boats around……then you see the wakes why do you continue to drive fast? Plus why are you up and down on the gas!! You should be banned from boats period….thank goodness it was minor injurys…

I'm glad and surprised no one was killed, so I laughed like crazy at the bruises they're going to have! He did not know how to take a wake, not in the valley! from both sides! If he cut back suddenly , water surged over back so he throttled backup, just didn't know to angle cross a wake instead of letting it take him! Just cause you can afford to buy it don't mean ya can drive it!

Funny as hell. The driver trys to be sooo cool as he is slammed to the ground. He looks like a rag doll. I hope he learns his leason. By the way, no life vests?

Donovan, I can't tell if your defending the driver or just creepin. Rachel was right he doesn't know what he's doing, hence the boat crash. You don't wreck a boat in the open water if you know how to drive. lol duh

Well for one its a speed boat, hence the fact that they were going fast. Second I go boating on the Mississippi from time to time and trust me sometimes a wake will come out of nowhere and trust me the river is way harder to boat on than a lake. I just think its funny when people act like they know what they are talking about but really have no idea of what happened or what the situation was.

I'm guessing that none of those folks have so much as a passing acquaintance with either physics or common sense.

Hard to say without a wide-angle shot of the boat and surrounding traffic, but the article implies that there was some, beyond the two in question. At 70 mph, it's awfully difficult to find a safe line through a crowd.

Not really, look behind the boat at wake rows he is intering, that's the point…no line through traffic, must weave and over each wake , but hey , never trust a me(woman) driver with a Miss. Navi license!! lol
