Alabama Man Allegedly Sodomized Toddler

An Alabama has been charged with a list of crimes associated with the rape and sodomy of a 3-year-old girl. The Times Daily reports that Jimmy Andrew Burcham, of Phil Campbell, has been indicted on several charges after an investigation found that he had an ongoing inappropriate relationship with the child.

Authorities initially arrested Burcham back in April. At the time, the Alabama man had admitted that he “played a magnet game” with the girl, during which time he would hide magnets in inappropriate places (such as in his pants) and then have the toddler retrieve it.

Jimmy Burcham, who is an acquaintance of the child and her loved ones, has gotten into even deeper trouble now that authorities have interviewed the 3-year-old victim. The unnamed toddler told detectives that she was afraid of the man who had been arrested. During the course of her interviews with authorities, she revealed that they had not only played the “refrigerator magnet game,” but Jimmy Burcham also inappropriately touched her.

Authorities have since figured out that the Alabama man engaged in “deviate sexual intercourse” with the 3-year-old girl. In other words, he is accused of raping and sodomizing the toddler. Authorities also believe that the sexual abuse of this three-year-old girl has been ongoing since December, 2015. In other words, the Alabama man is accused of sexually abusing this toddler for at least five or six months.

Unfortunately, crimes against children dominate media headlines, with numerous cases of child sexual abuse each year. Furthermore, it’s extremely common for a culprit of child sexual abuse to be an acquaintance of the child’s family in some manner. Reports haven’t mentioned in what capacity that 23-year-old Jimmy Burcham is acquainted with his alleged victim’s family.

Earlier this year, a 9-year-old Utah child was raped and sodomized by four men. The men were acquainted with the child’s mother through her use of drugs. In fact, at the time of the shocking incident, the 9-year-old victim’s mother was in the garage on the property, smoking crystal meth, while she was being raped. Fortunately, the Utah mom did the right thing and turned in the men who assaulted her daughter.


Also this year, A Utah man was arrested on accusations that he raped and sodomized a 5-year-old girl. The crimes came to light when the victim told her family that 28-year-old John Clayton had been sexually molesting her. After an investigation, he was charged with first-degree child rape. He also admitted to his actions. Reports aren’t saying how he was acquainted with his victim, but it’s clear that he wasn’t a member of her immediate family.

In the case of Alabama man Jimmy Burcham, it has been a handful of months since his initial arrest. Now he has been indicted on those charges, putting the wheels of justice in motion. He has been indicted on charges associated with first-degree sodomy and sexual abuse of a child under 12. If he’s convicted of all four charges he could end up in prison for more than a decade. If he ever gets out of prison, he will likely be ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
