According to Fox News, the bus, loaded with a group of peasants, was en route to the city of La Paz, when it veered off of the highway and fell off a cliff near the village of Yerbani, located about 37 miles from the city.

The bodies of the dead – four men and two women – were taken to the hospital in Chulumani, a town between La Paz and La Asunta, while the injured were transported to hospitals in La Paz.

For years, the government in Bolivia has been trying reduce the number of traffic accidents in the country.

In 2010, the country’s President, Evo Morales, passed a legislature that clamped down on bus drivers caught working drunk or in excessive hours, as well as on inexperienced drivers, all to aid the cause.

Less than three months ago, a passenger bus full of teenagers also crashed near the current site of the Yerbani accident, killing 16 and injuring over 30 youngsters.

The International Automobile Federation revealed that some 1,000 people die in road accidents in Bolivia annually, while 50,000 receive injuries.

Bolivia’s crash Tuesday happened just hours after a bus plunged some 500 feet into a ravine in Morocco, killing 42 passengers and injuring 25 others.

Official’s in the country say that the tragic accident was the worst in the Morocco’s history.
