Spice Girls Rumored To Replace Posh And Sporty In Upcoming Reunion, Will Hold Auditions

Here’s an update on the Spice Girls 20th anniversary reunion tour that might devastate their fans. According to a report by E Online, two of the Spice girls — Posh (Victoria Beckham) and Sporty (Mel C) — won’t be taking part in the reunion.

When news of the Spice Girls reunion was announced, there were already talks of Victoria Beckham not joining the rest of the girls. In April, however, Mel C had also decided to opt out of the tour. According to reports, the two girls would rather focus on their own careers.

Victoria Beckham has been busy with her fashion business which has expanded to include accessories, and Mel C has been performing solo and participating in triathlons. While the other three Spice Girls also have their own careers, they still look forward to reuniting next year.

However, rather than cancel the tour, the three remaining girls – Mel B, Geri Halliwell, and Emma Bunton – has decided that the show must go on. A Life & Syle exclusive states that auditions will be held soon to fill the two empty spots that Victoria Beckham and Mel C left open. A source revealed more information.

“The girls are going to be making a formal announcement about tryouts for their spots in the next few weeks. Posh and Sporty can be replaced.”

“It wasn’t a surprise that Victoria would decline the tour, but the girls really hit the roof when Mel C ditched too.”

The Spice Girls worldwide reunion tour is scheduled to take place sometime in 2017. According to a report from The Telegraph, the Spice Girls who will be participating in the reunion tour have already started working on music that they will release late this year. In fact, Eliot Kennedy, a producer who worked with the Spice Girls on Spice World, tweeted, “Now that was a day for the history books. Like 20 years had never happened. Proper friendship! Hit Song.”

Spice Girls’ last tour happened in 2008, but they never finished the tour due to “personal and family commitments.” In 2012, the girls reunited briefly to perform their hits “Spice Up Your Life” and “Wannabe” at the London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony.

While there are still no announcements on who will replace Posh Spice and Sporty Spice, E Online has compiled a list of their suggestions as to who they want to replace the two. Some of the names that popped up include Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, Beyonce, and Lady Gaga. Take a look at the full list here.

Although Life & Style‘s source said that Posh and Sporty can be replaced, many disagree. Take Buzzfeed, for example. The site said, “YOU CAN’T JUST REPLACE ONE OF THE SPICES. Imagine baking a cake and instead of nutmeg you use lemon pepper?! All spices aren’t created equal!” The site also posed the question, “Who in their right mind would pay to see a Sporty and Posh-less Spice Girls?”

What do you think about the Spice Girls reuniting next year without their two original members? Would you still watch them despite the absence of Posh Spice and Sporty Spice? Share your thoughts below.
