‘Batman V Superman’ Finally Unveils ‘Hunger Games’ Star Jena Malone’s Hidden Role [Spoilers]

For some time now, there have been multiple rumors on what Jena Malone will be doing in Batman V Superman. Apparently, it is not what everyone thought it would be.

Warning: Spoilers ahead. Read at your own risk.

According to Uproxx, Jena Malone was set for a participation in Batman V Superman before her role got cut from the theater release. Because of this massive move, people thought that she will be Halle Berry and Anne Hathaway’s replacement for Batgirl, but this theory was completely debunked after it was discovered that her role will be seen on the Blu-Ray Ultimate Edition of Batman V Superman.

Apparently, Jena Malone, who also joined in Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games trilogy, is Jenet Klyburn in Batman V Superman.

“Jenet Klyburn is one of the chief scientists at S.T.A.R. Labs and the director of S.T.A.R.’s Metropolis branch (but has also been busy at the S.TA.R. Labs in New York). She has worked a lot with superheroes such as Superman and the New Titans, as well as Josiah Power of the Power Company. However, the influx of a new generation of female S.T.A.R. scientists like Sarah Charles, Tina McGee and Kitty Faulkner, has made Klyburn work in a less visible position in recent years.”

This interesting twist might have added to the charisma of the film, but they decided to cut this route. Thankfully, there will be a longer R-rated cut for the Ultimate Edition.

Though Jena Malone’s shots were removed in the big screen version, this goes to show that DC has a lot of depth when it comes to telling the story of Batman V Superman.

At the same time, this just opens up the bigger possibilities for the new Batgirl or Barbara Gordon. There is already news that Harley Quinn’s solo movie would only include female DC superstars, and this is where fans speculate Batgirl would arrive.

With the Suicide Squad launch coming up within the next few months, it is still uncertain if Batgirl would be revealed as a tease for the next Harley Quinn movie.

As for Jena Malone’s intriguing casting in the movie, there are still no indications on why she has become a part of this big war between two superheroes. As Uproxx noted, it would be weird to hire Jena Malone for such a small role, unless this would lead to DC introducing much more on Jena Malone’s Jenet Klyburn character.

When the movie was released, there were so many unanswered questions about Batman and his city, Gotham. One of those is the interesting take on the specific attack on the Wayne Manor while the entire waterfront property, including the Gotham PD, were just left abandoned.

Though Jenet Klyburn is a seemingly small role, even in the entire DC universe, she might still hold the clue about the missing link between Superman and Tin Man.

Since Klyburn is supposed to have insights on the S.T.A.R. labs, she might even be the reason why there was a Tin Man in the first place. At the same time, S.T.A.R. labs would just push her closer to The Flash and Arrow storylines.

Though DC’s interpretation on the film and television shows might differ, Jena Malone is still a character to watch out for.

Jena Malone introduces a sneak peek to everyone on her character when she said the following to Lois Laine.

“That’s what makes you such a good reporter… stuff like this still shocks you.”
