‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’: O.J. Simpson Predicted The Show Would Bomb

In an interesting discovery, the hit show of the family that many love to hate, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, was predicted by former football star and husband to brutally murdered Nicole Brown Simpson, to fail. Additionally, Simpson never believed that Kim Kardashian would become a superstar off the show’s popularity.

Entertainment Tonight relays the details as to when O.J.’s predictions about the show’s future success and his goddaughter Kim Kardashian’s possible stardom were uttered.

“On ESPN’s series, O.J.: Made in America, Simpson’s cohort, Thomas Riccio, says he and the former NFL pro watched Kim’s appearance on the Tyra Banks Show on Sept. 13, 2007, where she announced that her family was getting their own reality show. ‘That’s my goddaughter, her name is Kim,’ Riccio claims Simpson told him. ‘That show ain’t going to last two weeks.'”

Interestingly enough, that very evening O.J Simpson was arrested for robbing a Las Vegas memorabilia dealer, and Riccio reportedly assisted in the robbery.

Over a decade later, Simpson can eat his words as the Kardashians are now coming into their 12th season of the hit reality show that put the family on the map, along with Kim’s sex tape. Following the airing of the ESPN special, Kim spoke with GQ magazine and chatted about the close friendship her late father, Rob Kardashian, and O.J. had. Rob Kardashian worked on the defense team for the O.J. Simpson trial when Simpson was accused of his wife’s brutal murder. Kim shared a secret about the infamous Louis Vuitton bag that prosecution alleged held the murder weapon.

Entertainment Tonight relays the words of Kim on the subject.

“I know people said at the time that he [joined O.J.’s defense team] so he couldn’t be called as a witness, because he had that Louis Vuitton bag that supposedly had the [murder] weapon and stuff like that. But that bag was sitting at my dad’s house. I remember I went through it. The news was like, ‘Where is this Louis Vuitton bag?’ And I’m like, ‘Oh, it’s upstairs.’ “

The 35-year-old also shared that she did, in fact, look inside and noted that there were “[j]ust toiletries and clothes and golf clothes…Just random stuff, I’m pretty sure it’s, like, still in- probably in my dad’s storage,” the star added.

Two decades after living through the drama of the trial, Kim Kardashian shared that she and her rapper hubby Kanye absolutely loved watching the made-for-TV special based on the trial and murder of Nicole Brown Simpson. The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, which aired on FX.

“There were times I was watching it and I was like, ‘Oh s***, this is dead-on.’ Like, ‘That looks like my dad. It feels like my dad.’ It was eerie to watch sometimes.”

The mother-of-two has divulged these details due to being July’s cover girl for GQ, during which she had the opportunity to show off the body she has worked so hard to get back since giving birth to Saint West, now 6 months. As the publication notes, the draw to Kim Kardashian is simply that she gets paid to just be herself and to make the world “privy” to her personal life on the regular. Although many people cannot stand that she is simply famous for being famous and not really doing much else, she knows how to get attention and keep her name on people’s lips.

Within the cover story Kardashian talks about everything from Kanye’s favorite asset on her to her life as a mother of two and as noted, her ties to one of the most famous murder trials of the 20th century.
