Grigor Dimitrov Clings Onto Girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger With Career Falling Apart

Grigor Dimitrov is going through a rough patch in his career, so it’s a good thing that he has a supportive girlfriend by his side. After crashing out of the first round of AEGON Championships, he was seen lingering in London, putting on a full PDA display with Nicole Scherzinger.

“Nicole Scherzinger, 37, and her tennis ace boyfriend, Grigor Dimitrov, 25, proved that they were stronger than ever as they put on a loved up display after an evening at the theatre last week,” reports the Daily Mail. “The X Factor judge looked typically glamorous for the event as she poured her infamous curves into a pretty scarf dress that floated around her feet in pools of silky fabric.”

“As his date looked so gorgeous it was no wonder that Grigor was struggling to keep his hands off Nicole, as he draped his arm around her neck and lovingly held her hand,” the reporter observed.

Maybe Nicole thought that a nice West End show would boost his mood after losing so badly in his most recent tournament.

This comes days after he was defeated by Janko Tipsarevic at the AEGON Championships, another tournament that the Bulgarian player had to drop out embarrassingly early.

Right before that, he was felled by Juan Martin Del Potro in Stuttgart.

“In a clash of former Wimbledon semifinalists, del Potro dismantled Grigor Dimitrov, 6-4, 6-2, in his Stuttgart opener,” reports Tennis Now. “It was del Potro’s first grass-court match since he lost to Novak Djokovic in the 2013 Wimbledon semifinals. He defeated Dimitrov for the third time in as many meetings.”

And even before that, Grigor fell out of the French Open 2016 without turning anyone’s head.

Nicole Scherzinger has been following him ever since the French Open, possibly having intuited that her boyfriend might need her support as he continues to do badly in international tournaments.

“They have been plagued with split rumours in recent months,” reports the Daily Mail. “Yet Nicole Scherzinger and Grigor Dimitrov truly silenced their critics as they put on an extremely cosy display during a trip to Paris on Sunday. The 37-year-old former Pussycat Dolls frontwoman jetted to the French capital to watch her beau, 25, play in the French Open Roland Garros – a match he sadly lost.”

But her presence and his endless optimism on his Instagram, which depicts him having a YOLO attitude towards his training, has not helped his game a bit.

The used-to-be top 10 tennis player confessed earlier this year that he is starting to lose confidence in his game.

I’ve lost a lot of confidence in myself,” Grigor said to Sports 360. “It’s not easy to come off losing those kind of matches, those close matches. In the past years I’ve been winning those close matches and that gives you a lot of confidence and motivation… I’ve been there before but this time it’s just kind of different. Sometimes it’s scary of course, it’s just really scary.”

“What scares me is that I’m really not finding a way and usually I’m pretty good at bouncing back, whether it’s from a loss or something else,” he said. “A lot of losses have always motivated me – just right now it’s not happening.”

The interesting thing is that his ex-girlfriend, Maria Sharapova, is also doing quite horribly. She was recently given a two-year ban from tennis after testing positive for doping. Maybe the stars are not aligned for him as he continues to struggle to find his game.
