Muslim Man Stabs Teenage Girl In France As ‘Ramadan Sacrifice’
A French Muslim man stabbed a teenage girl in what he called a “Ramadan sacrifice,” the second stabbing attack by a Muslim in France in a week, the Independent is reporting.
According to prosecutor Nicolas Jacquet, the 32-year-old man approached the random 19-year-old girl and stabbed her three times, twice in the wrist and once in the abdomen. He was overheard by a witness saying that he is a Muslim before handing over the knife.
“Voices told him that he had to make a sacrifice on the occasion of Ramadan.”
Ramadan, which this year began at sundown on June 5 and ends at sundown on July 5, is a holy month of fasting and prayer in Islam. Able-bodied Muslims are expected to fast — that is, refrain from eating, drinking, smoking, or having sex — from sunrise until sunset each day during Ramadan.
The assailant, whose name has not been released as of this writing, is known to local authorities to have mental health issues. He has been in and out of psychiatric institutions and has been battling schizophrenia — a mental illness during which the patient can hear voices and/or have delusions.
The man was taken to a hospital for evaluation and placed in a secure psychiatric facility. Meanwhile, an investigation into attempted murder has been opened.
The 19-year-old girl’s wounds are not life-threatening and she is expected to make a full recovery.
This was the second violent attack by a Muslim in France this week.
On Monday in the Paris suburb of Magnanville, a terrorist killed a police commander and his wife. 25-year-old Larossi Abballa, who was known to French authorities for having ties to jihadist groups, stabbed and killed 42-year-old police commander Jean-Baptiste Salvaing outside his home, according to RT.

Abballa then took Salvaing’s 36-year-old partner, Jessica Schneider, and the couple’s 3-year-old son, hostage before slitting the woman’s throat. He then posted a 13-minute-long video of himself and the child, during which he admitted to the murders and urged fellow Muslims to carry out similar attacks in the name of jihad. He posted the video on Facebook; the video has, of course, since been taken down.
Abballa was shot and killed during a police standoff a short time later.
Earlier this month, according to this Inquisitr report, two Muslim men in the French Riviera city of Nice took exception to a Muslim woman — a bartender — serving alcohol during Ramadan and physically assaulted her.
“One of them said to me in Arabic: ‘You should be ashamed of yourself for serving alcohol during Ramadan,— if I was God I would hang you.’ [I replied] ‘You’re not God and you cannot judge me.’ “
One of the men called her a “whore” and slapped her across the face, giving her a black eye and knocking her to the floor.
Right-wing French politician Eric Ciotti pointed to the attack in Nice as evidence of a larger problem of growing Islamic fundamentalism in France.
“This attack should be placed in a national context that has seen a constant rise in religious fundamentalism and ghetto communities. Each attack like this strikes a severe blow against the values of the French Republic.”
The French government, for its part, has been attempting to crack down on Islamic extremism in the country in the wake of the November 13, 2015 Paris attacks that killed 130 people and injured scores more, according to the Washington Times.
