Transformers: Fall of Cybertron Adding Dinobots to Multiplayer Next Week

On September 11, developer High Moon Studios will be bringing in the Dinobots to Transformers: Fall of Cybertron‘s competitive multiplayer mode.

The DLC, dubbed the “Dinobot Destructor Pack”, is expected to release simultaneously on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It adds in four Dinobots to Transformers: Fall of Cybertron: the tyrannosaurus-rex Grimlock, the triceratops Slug, the stegosaurus Snarl, and finally Swoop, the pteranodon.

Speaking with Polygon, High Moon Studios’ Matt Tieger said that the team originally planned to include the Dinobots in Transformers: Fall of Cybertron from the get-go, but the decision was made half-way through because a lot of work needed to be done on the Dinobots.

“We had looked into putting the Dinobots in multiplayer very early on when we knew they would be in the main game,” Tieger told the site. “We had to make the call halfway through the project that they would not be in the competitive multiplayer.

“They have a different animation system, their rigs are different, and we didn’t know how we would fit them into the carefully balanced set of archetypes (cars, trucks, tanks, and planes),” he explained. “They didn’t fit any of those classes, and we couldn’t make a fifth class and have it be just the Dinobots.”

High Moon Studios also plans to add in other transformers, including the Insecticons. No pricing has been revealed for the Dinobots, or the Insecticons for that matter, so we’ll likely have to wait until they’re out to find out.

As for future DLC for Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, Polygon asked Tieger whether or not any future content would expand on the game’s storyline, to which he responded with a cryptic “maybe.”
