Taylor Swift, Tom Hiddleston, And Calvin Harris: Why Love Hurts

Calvin Harris is said to be aghast at finding that Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston are the new deal in town. The news sent shockwaves to fans of both Swift and Hiddleston yesterday. Suddenly, pictures of the two new lovebirds started circulating on social media and tabloid newspapers around the world.

Yet even more shocked was Calvin Harris, who was the one to break up with Taylor Swift anyway, according to an Inquisitr story. Truly, there is such a thing as karma. The dance artist is finally getting what he deserves. If it is true that he is extremely upset by all these developments, it’s about time that Harris realizes that you just don’t let go of something beautiful that you feel for somebody. For chances are, it might come back to haunt you.

Love is like a flower, says this poem by English poet Robert Herrick, as featured in Bartleby.

“GATHER ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying:
And this same flower that smiles to-day
To-morrow will be dying.”

Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift apparently made a joint statement on social media on the eve of their breakup as follows.

“The only truth here is that a relationship came to an end and what remains is a huge amount of love and respect.”

By initiating the breakup with Taylor Swift, Calvin Harris definitely put the couple’s joint affection in harm’s way. But this is not the first time he has done so.

The first time Calvin Harris recklessly endangered the love that the two were feeling for each other was when he refused to attend the Met Gala with Taylor Swift on May 2. According to Hollywood Life, Calvin was not the type of person who feels comfortable with attending red carpet events. Although Taylor Swift understood the nature of her prince charming, she still ended up looking like a wallflower at the ball.

And guess what happens? As fate would have it, Taylor Swift meets Tom Hiddleston, and before you know it, they have this wonderful dance that plants something deep in Taylor’s heart in true Cinderella fashion. It is possible that at that time, Taylor did not feel anything yet.

But as the Selena Gomez song goes, “The Heart Knows What It Wants,” and the rest is history. Like a ticking time bomb, love was sown in Taylor’s heart, which could only get stronger as time went by. So you could only imagine what happens when Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston happen to meet again. Boom.

Blame it on Swift? No way. Ask yourself, who was instrumental in bringing Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston together, anyway.

So here’s a lesson for Calvin Harris: When you love somebody deeply, you don’t let her go. Otherwise, you will be exposing your woman to other influences that might alienate her feelings for you.

And this is exactly what happened, in true textbook fashion. Now it’s water under the bridge. The chance of getting Taylor Swift back seems nil indeed. After all, she appears to be very much in love with her new man.

Who gets the last laugh? Tom Hiddleston, of course. He seems to be trying to tell Calvin Harris: Hey, pal, why did you let her go?

A long, long time ago, songbird Barbra Streisand sang the following, according to Metrolyrics.

“They say if you love someone
Then set them free
If they come back again
Then in the end it was meant to be”

Unfortunately, this saying, Calvin, is no longer valid in the 21st century. Now it’s something like this: You find true love. You latch on to it, even lock it with a key. Why? Because chances are, it’s going to be hard to find something like it again. Of course, you don’t want to end up smothering Taylor Swift. And so accordingly, you want to give those little, open spaces — but not too much.

As Chicago sings: “Everybody needs a little time away, far away, from each other.”

Now there’s only one way to get Taylor back, and it’s not recommended. It’s a throwback to the Stone Age. It’s so not Calvin Harris, and chances are, Taylor Swift won’t like it either.
