Marc Anthony Joins X Factor As A Mentor

It looks like Marc Anthony has been bitten by the reality television bug. After executive producing and mentoring his first singing competition show “Q’Viva: The Chosen”, with ex wife Jennifer Lopez, Anthony is taking on another singing competition, but this time it’s a mentor on Simon Cowell’s “X Factor”.

It was announced this morning that Anthony would be mentoring for the “X Factor” in the upcoming season which features a judging panel of Simon Cowell, Britney Spears, L.A. Reid, and Demi Lovato. Anthony who in the past was always a familiar face on “American Idol”, another show owned by Cowell and Simon Fuller, will be mentoring specifically for Simon Cowell’s group of “X Factor” chosen ones.

According to sources close to the production, in addition to scoring Marc Anthony, “X Factor” has also scored Justin Bieber, who recently turned down a $25 million payday from “American Idol”. Bieber is said to mentor L.A. Reid’s group of X Factors.

The news of Anthony’s involvement with “X Factor” comes right on the heels of his new singing gig, as he preps to sing at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, September 6 in Charlotte, NC. Anthony will share the stage with the Foo Fighters, Mary J. Blige, Earth, Wind and Fire, James Taylor, Delta Rae, and Inspire the Fire. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said of the event, “The tens of thousands who will attend Convention events in person, and all those tuning in across the country, should be ready for quite a show.”
The season premiere of the X Factor is said to air on September 12 at 8 pm on FOX.
