‘Big Brother 18’ Spoilers: Corey Brooks Uses Homophobic, Anti-Gay Slurs That Shine Negative Light On ‘BB18’ Cast

Big Brother 18 spoilers now include some negative news about Corey Brooks. Brooks is a BB18 cast member who used to favor homophobic and anti-gay language when making posts on his Twitter page. A report from Big Brother blog Reality Blurred shares some of the social media posts Brooks made in 2011 and 2012, and they aren’t good. While this wouldn’t make Brooks the first Big Brother contestant who has resorted to that type of language to insult other people, it certainly couldn’t have been worse timing.

This seems like something CBS and show producers should have investigated closely before Corey Brooks was added to the cast, but it’s also possible that people in power already knew about his preferred use of the negative language beforehand. It’s also possible that this could have played into the decision-making process that led to the BB18 cast announcement getting delayed after what took place in Orlando. If that rumor is true, the show will receive extremely negative publicity.

Whereas many Big Brother 18 spoilers simply give out information about what might be coming up during a given season, this story instead will likely shape how fans view Corey Brooks before he even enters the house. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the 12 new houseguests have already been sequestered, but they have not yet entered the game. That will take place over the weekend. But it seems likely that some of the posts on his Twitter account might vanish very soon.

So what is it that Corey Brooks said which has social media storming right now? Here is a post he made in 2011, where Brooks makes a sexual joke and then uses a derogatory term to describe a baseball pitching coach. Brooks continued using the anti-gay slur in 2012 when he used it to describe Daniel Mengden, a pitcher in the Oakland Athletics organization.

At least seven instances were discovered by Reality Blurred where Corey Brooks used anti-gay or homophobic remarks to get his point across on Twitter. Those posts were all copied and saved to the reality television blog, ensuring that even if someone logs on to Brooks’ account to delete them, that the posts can still be seen by Big Brother fans. Why Brooks didn’t try to at least delete them before he became a member of the BB18 cast might speak volumes as well.

This behavior isn’t something that Corey Brooks shared during the BB18 cast reveal, which makes these Big Brother 18 spoilers a bit worse for unsuspecting fans. His life motto was packed with foreshadowing, though, as he stated that, “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get!” It’s hard not to wonder if producers knew what they were going to get when they asked him to join the show for summer 2016? Maybe they did. Because in his bio, Brooks calls women “chicks” when describing how much people enjoyed watching Cody Calafiore on the show.

This is where Big Brother fans are going to have to make some tough decisions about Corey Brooks and his presence this year. Do his homophobic comments and anti-gay slurs immediately make him a villain this season? Or will his derogatory words used on Twitter get written off as simply immature posts? Either way, social media is already taking a turn in its response to him. Outside of a Texas A&M blog, that is, as Brooks was a pitcher on the Aggie’s baseball team.

In the past, Big Brother addressed comments of this nature when one of its contestants made them. It will be very interesting to see what the response is from CBS and if there is a lot of early backlash against Corey Brooks. Could the producers decide to pull the plug on him even being part of the BB18 cast? Since he hasn’t entered the house yet, and because reality competition shows usually have replacements lined up, it is certainly possible. That could lead to many new Big Brother 18 rumors as the day plays out on Wednesday, June 15.
