‘Southern Charm’ Kathryn Dennis Reportedly Fails Drug Test During Custody Battle, Talks ‘Pride’ And ‘Resentment’ On Instagram

Kathryn Dennis of Bravo’s Southern Charm reportedly failed a drug test last week during a custody battle hearing against her former partner and co-star, Thomas Ravenel.

Following months of back and forth between the former couple, Kathryn Dennis and Thomas Ravenel appeared in court last Thursday and during their appearance, they were both ordered to take drug tests. However, while Ravenel’s came back negative, Kathryn Dennis’ came back positive for both cocaine and marijuana, as All About the Tea confirmed on June 11.

On June 12, days after her court appearance, Kathryn Dennis posted a telling quote on Instagram.

“One of the most powerful art pieces from Burning Man: A sculpture of two adults after a disagreement, sitting with their backs to each other. Yet, the inner child in both of them simply wants to connect. Age has many beautiful gifts but one we could live without is the pride and resentment we hold onto when we have conflicts with others. The forgiving, free spirit of children is our true nature. Remember this when you feel stubborn.”

Meanwhile, on his Twitter account, Ravenel has been sharing tons of photos of his children with fans.

Kathryn Dennis and Thomas Ravenel began dating while filming the first season of Southern Charm, and after quickly hooking up on the show, Kathryn Dennis became pregnant with their first child, daughter Kensington, now 2.

Although Kathryn Dennis and Thomas Ravenel’s relationship was rocky after the birth of their daughter, they continued making up and breaking up for months until Dennis became pregnant with their second child, son St. Julien, who was born in November 2015.

Following the birth of their second child, Kathryn Dennis and Thomas Ravenel weren’t on good terms, and due to custody laws in their home state of South Carolina, Dennis was left in charge of calling the shots. Because of her frequent disagreements with Ravenel, he rarely saw their children. Now, however, Ravenel will get to see plenty of his kids.

On June 11, All About the Tea revealed details of Kathryn Dennis and Thomas Ravenel’s new custody agreement, the terms of which can be seen below.

  • “Thomas was granted unsupervised joint custody of the two children, Kensington and St. Julien.”
  • “Kathryn was granted supervised joint custody — Thomas agreed to allow Kathryn’s parents to supervise her time with the children.”
  • “Custody will be split 50/50, with each parent alternating a week of custody.”
  • “No drug use will be permitted.”
  • “No paramours are allowed between certain hours in the home of either parent.”
  • “No abuse of prescription drugs will be permitted.”
  • “Each parent MUST refrain from any alcohol or drug use, 12 hours prior to picking up the children for their designated week of custody.”

After his custody agreement was made public, Ravenel spoke to All About the Tea about his court win.

“I used to see them every other week for 3 days, and then it went down to every other week for 2 days. But before court, I had not seen them for 12 weeks!” he explained to the outlet on June 13. “I gained joint custody of my kids on Thursday and I feel so blessed to see them after 12 weeks.”

Kathryn Dennis has not yet publicly addressed her recent court appearance, nor has she spoken of her drug test.
