Obama Targets The Stoner Vote With New Kal Penn Campaign Video [Video]

President Obama didn’t directly say it, but it looks like he’s targeting the stoner vote. Obama released a new ad today with Kal Penn, the star of Harold & Kumar star and former Associate Director in the White House Office of Public Engagement, to promote the Democratic National Convention.

In the video, Obama calls Penn and tells him that he’s counting on him to do a professional job when he hosts an online portion of the DNC.

Obama says:

“Listen, I need to know if you’re on board. Okay, good. Because I’m counting on you. Everybody is. We have to get this right. So there’s a lot at stake here. Just remember that I’m trusting you on this and I’ll see you then.”

The video then cuts to Penn sitting on his couch and eating cheetos with his Harold & Kumar co-star John Cho.

The Huffington Post reports that the video is promoting a web-only event called “Live From Charlotte.” The event will be hosted by Penn on Thursday at 8 pm and will include interviews with celebrities like Olivia Wilde, Elisabeth Banks, Zach Braff, and Marc Anthony.

Here’s the new ad featuring President Obama and Kal Penn.
