Elisha Cuthbert, Dion Phaneuf Get Engaged

Actress Elisha Cuthbert and hockey star Dion Phaneuf are engaged!

PEOPLE Magazine reports that Cuthbert and Phaneuf have been dating since 2008, and last weekend the captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs asked his longtime girlfriend to marry him over the weekend. Cuthbert, of course, said yes.

The marriage proposal happened over dinner at the New Glasgow Lobster in Prince Edward Island, Canada.

After Cuthbert said yes to Phaneuf, the restaurant tweeted:

“Last night we had the privilege of hosting a surprise engagement party for Dion Phaneuf and Elisha Cuthbert… Congrats to them both.”

US Magazine reports that Phaneuf made reservations at the restaurant a week in advance and invited about 40 friends and family members to come celebrate the engagement.

A source told the celebrity magazine:

“Elisha looked very happy and pleased. She was showing off her ring to her family and the wait staff… The female wait staff were gushing about the ring saying it was ‘quite impressive’ and ‘huge.’ At one point, Dion and Elisha both got up an gave a speech and thanked everyone for being there and celebrating this exciting time with them.”

Cuthbert starred in the Nickelodeon series Are You Afraid of the Dark and rose to fame when she appeared opposite Jack Bauer in 24. She currently stars as Alex Kerkovich in the show Happy Endings.
