‘Southern Charm’ Thomas Ravenel Responds To Kathryn’s Failed Drug Test, Regains Custody Of Kids

While the current season of Southern Charm has not caught up to the actual real lives of Thomas Ravenel and Kathryn Calhoun Dennis, it is hard not to follow the behind the scenes drama involving custody of their children Kensie and Saint. But last week, Thomas Ravenel finally took Kathryn Dennis to court, and through drug tests and legal wrangling, came out with the upper hand, as now, Thomas has the children with him.

According to the Inquisitr, last Wednesday, Thomas Ravenel and Kathryn Dennis of Southern Charm appeared in court, and both Thomas and Kathryn were given drug tests. Reportedly, Thomas passed his drug test, and Kathryn did not. These results were not made public by either party, yet the results were said to have come as a leak from Kathryn’s lawyer’s office. Obviously, these results were going to shake things up with the custody of Kathryn and Thomas’ two children going forward.

When the news about the results of the Southern Charm custody battle broke, both Thomas and Kathryn were mum, but now Thomas has broken his silence, and is explaining to fans what the failed drug test means going forward, according to All About the Tea. Thomas Ravenel was awarded joint custody of Kensington Calhoun Ravenel and St. Julien Rembert Ravenel as of June 9. The new custody agreement was reportedly a result of the drug test results.

It is alleged that while Thomas Ravenel’s test came back clean, Kathryn Dennis had both marijuana and cocaine in her system. Thomas Ravenel commented on the tests and the change in the custody situation.

“I do not believe Kathryn’s lawyer leaked any confidential information to the media.”

A joint custody agreement was struck between Kathryn and Thomas, and after being apart allegedly for twelve weeks, Kensie and Saint were promptly delivered to their father. Thomas Ravenel was quoted as saying that he felt so blessed to be reunited with his children after such a gap. Thomas Ravenel explained the current custody agreement.

“The agreement is, we’ll each have 50/50 custody. One week with her [Kathryn], and one week with me. This is temporary, until the case goes to mediation, and is approved by the judge.”

The bigger twist to the current agreement is that Thomas Ravenel has unsupervised custody of the children for his period of time, but Kathryn Dennis must have supervised custody of the children. Thomas Ravenel has agreed that Kathryn’s custody can be supervised by her parents. Also, both parents must refrain from drugs and alcohol twelve hours before picking up the children, and must remain clean during visitation.

Tamaratattles reports that it was thought that Wednesday’s court hearing was about both Kathryn and Thomas agreeing to seal the court records, but allegedly Thomas knew in advance that the drug tests were coming, but Kathryn obviously didn’t (maybe time to find a new lawyer?).

And while Kathryn has been silent, other Southern Charm cast members are chomping at the bit to weigh in on what they perceive as Kathryn being taken down a notch. Tamaratattles claims that Patricia Altschul, (who she calls Patti) can’t wait to share her thoughts on Kathryn, who she criticizes with every other breath.

“Of course that despicable old yankee hag is gleefully tweeting about the situation. On Monday’s Watch What Happens Live, Whitney, Landon and Cameran will be on. Patti is screeching for all who care to listen that they will be verifying the drug test results on the show. Like they have some sort of personal knowledge of the situation beyond the Fits News Story.”

It was also mentioned that marijuana stays in the system for days, while cocaine and molly pass through rather quickly. Most fans find this whole situation sad and unfortunate, as the focus really should just be on what it best for the children of Thomas and Kathryn.
