One Direction To Appear In Their Very Own Comic Book

One Direction is getting their very own comic book, courtesy of the folks at Bluewater Productions. The tome, which is appropriately titled Fame: One Direction, is a pen-and-ink retelling of the band’s origins, beginning with their stint on the popular British talent show The X Factor. Those who have been waiting for Simon Cowell’s comic book debut are now free to celebrate accordingly.

According to The Examiner, the One Direction comic book gives each member of the group his own page, a fair and diplomatic decision designed to keep fans of the boys happy. In other words, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne will be equally represented. Nobody’s playing favorites here.

Bluewater’s Fame series doesn’t begin and end with the tale of One Direction. The franchise has also tackled the origin stories of Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, and Demi Lovato.

Not satisfied with conquering the realm of comic books, One Direction is looking to cast their marketing lines into the wonderful world of toys. The Daily Mail reports that Hasbro is currently working on a line of One Direction action figures. Start saving your money now, kids.

Of course, One Direction isn’t the boy band to be immortalized in the world of comic books. The Monkees, for example, famously embarked on a number of illustrated adventures during a 17 issue run back in the 60s. The books were published by Dell Comics, the company responsible for such comics as Dracula, Werewolf, and Brain Boy.

New Kids on the Block, a boy band who knew a thing or two about marketing, had their very own series of comic books during the early 90s. Harvey Comics, famous for creating Casper the Friendly Ghost and Wendy the Good Little Witch, published the books during the height of the boy band’s popularity.

Fame: One Direction is scheduled for release on September 20. The comic book will be available in both print and digital editions.
