Simon Cowell Has Back-To-Back Judging Commitments While Moonlighting As A Children’s Book Writer

Simon Cowell is joining the judging panel on America’s Got Talent, and he is expected to bring his peculiar brand of a sarcastic tone to the show. Simon Cowell will join Heidi Klum, Mel B, and Howie Mandel on the judge’s panel by replacing Howard Stern. Entertainment Tonight reports that Simon has already met his match in Heidi Klum as the supermodel is already giving him a hard time.

Currently, Simon can be seen judging Britain’s Got Talent, which airs on ITV. Simon is well known as an acid-tongued critic, and it will be up to the other judges like Klum to put their foot down when Simon starts getting a little brutal on the contestants.

In what will be a very busy judging season for Simon Cowell, the sharp-tongued judge is gearing up to appear in the 13th series of ITV’s The X Factor. The Daily Mail reports that the first photos of this year’s judging panel, comprised of Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger, and Sharon Osbourne, have been released in advance of the season’s official launch.

Simon Cowell is known to come heavily on good contestants who might have erred slightly. OK! reported that Simon didn’t even spare Vitaly Voronko, the talented accordion player from Belarus who made it until the semi-final round of Britain’s Got Talent.

Vitaly, who was a huge success in Belarus, failed to impress Simon and eventually his performance earned him harsh words from the acerbic judge.

According to the Fresno Bee, Simon Cowell was always keen to be a judge on America’s Got Talent, but his professional commitments prevented him from taking the time to appear on the popular show.

And even though Howard Stern was gentler than Simon Cowell, there is a general feeling that Simon is a perfect fit for the show, as the format requires at least one judge who is tough and blunt. Although Simon is known as a tough judge, he is also appreciative of good performances. The television mogul spoke about the golden moment when a star is born in front of him during an audition.

“When you’re there, when you discover a star or you think that could become a star, you’ll never forget that moment, never forget that audition.”

Quite apart from scenes that show Simon Cowell lashing out at the contestants there are funny moments as well that make the sarcastic judge red-faced. According to the Mirror, Simon appeared to fumble on his oversized trousers during the second semi-final of Britain’s Got Talent.

Simon momentarily lost his footing as he walked on-stage along with other judges of the show. For any other celebrity, this may seem a trivial moment. However, Simon’s popularity is such that fans instantly took to social media to spread the word about the unexpected faux pas. The Express reports that on yet another occasion, Simon was left embarrassed after fellow judge Amanda Holden boldly suggested Simon should finally propose to his long-term girlfriend, Lauren Silverman.

Simon and Lauren started dating even prior to Lauren’s divorce in 2013. The couple welcomed their son, Eric, in February 2014, and in addition to his responsibilities as a television judge, Simon has taken his role as a father very seriously.

The Guardian reports that Simon Cowell has announced that he’s writing a children’s book that will contain a selection of animal stories.

Simon feels that the current selection of children’s stories are too boring to read to his toddler, so rather than complaining about other authors’ writing, he has taken it upon himself to write children’s stories that will keep the kids hooked. The announcement has kept fans wondering about the type of stories that will feature in Simon’s storybook.

Given that Simon Cowell has hinted that his stories will involve animals, fans are wondering whether Simon will draw inspiration from classics animal stories like Shirley Hughes’s classic Dogger, Mick Inkpen’s Kipper, Jez Alborough’s Some Dogs Do, or Babette Cole’s Doctor Dog. Irrespective of the theme of the stories, Simon Cowell wishes to keep the book simple, and he will surely have his young son in mind to help him write stories that would thrill any toddler.
