‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8: Will Alaric Save Damon And Enzo? [Spoilers]

The Vampire Diaries Season 8 will begin with a whole new mystery. This time, it isn’t Bonnie Bennet (Kat Graham) who needs saving. When the new season begins, it will be Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) who are in trouble. Could it be possible that Alaric (Matt Davis) will play a role in saving the TVD characters?

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Damon and Enzo came into contact with the mysterious creature inside the Vault. As a result, everything good about them has been stripped away. When the Season 7 finale of TVD concluded, Damon and Enzo were on a killing spree and showed no signs of stopping anytime soon. They were definitely not the same characters fans grew to love over the past few years.

There have been a lot of theories on how Stefan (Paul Wesley), Caroline (Candice King), and Bonnie would save Damon and Enzo. However, what if they don’t? Is there any possibility that someone else will do the rescuing, such as Alaric?

In an interview with Eric Goldman of IGN, Candice King shared her thoughts on The Vampire Diaries Season 8. She said it will be interesting how much Alaric is part of the upcoming storyline. Will he return to Dallas to care for the twins or will he help find the two missing vampires? King also pondered how much Alaric would play into finding the TVD characters and “waking them up.”

Was this a clue that Alaric will play a bigger part of The Vampire Diaries in Season 8 then he did last year? Instead of just being the father of the Gemini twins, will Alaric actually have a bigger and much more important role?

The Vampire Diaries Season 8 synopsis may provide some insight.

“The triangle of Stefan, Caroline, and Alaric will team up with Bonnie in Season 8 to search for the two most important men in her life,” Melty wrote about the upcoming season of TVD, “even though Damon and Enzo may be long past saving.”

Well, this doesn’t sound too good. If Damon and Enzo are “long past saving,” does that mean they will simply disappear? Or will the two vampires need to be killed off by the Season 8 finale of The Vampire Diaries?

Even though nobody wants to admit that Damon Salvatore could be killed off, the actor did say he was leaving The Vampire Diaries after Season 8. On the other hand, TVD fans shouldn’t get too upset, at least not yet. In an interview, executive producer Julie Plec admitted that they are still working out how the story will end. Unless she is omitting information, this means that it has not been decided what will happen to Damon and Enzo in Season 8 of TVD. Yes, one or both of them could die, but there also might be a way to save Ian Somerhalder and Michael Malarkey’s characters.

The other concern about The Vampire Diaries that fans have is what will happen to Bonnie. Like Somerhalder, Kat Graham recently confirmed she is leaving the long-running television series. If Bonnie dies, then that means Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) wakes up. It was stated that Dobrev would return for the final episode of The CW TV show, but it isn’t known for sure if Season 8 is the last or not. Even if it isn’t, Nina could decide to come back earlier if she decides that is what she wants to do.
