That’s not political correctness — suggesting someone can’t do their job because of their race or ethnicity, that’s not a politically incorrect thing to do. That’s just a wrong thing to say, and I hope he gets that.”

Trump has since backed away from the line of attack on Judge Curiel, issuing a statement this week saying he doesn’t believe the judge’s ethnicity plays a role in his decision-making regarding the Trump University lawsuit.
Amid the controversy, Donald Trump has seen his poll numbers plummet. After bringing a sudden and unexpected end to the Republican primary with a win in the Indiana primary, Trump spent much of the month of May building relationships within his party and bringing new voters on board. He rode a post-nomination bump to his first real lead over Hillary Clinton just before Memorial Day but has since watched it fizzle amid the bad press.
