‘The Big Bang Theory’s Age Discrimination Lawsuit Settled Quietly; Peek Inside The Showrunner’s Private Office

A Big Bang Theory crew member who claims he was discriminated against after turning 50 has quietly settled his lawsuit against the CBS sitcom, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Christopher Klausen, who served as an assistant director on The Big Bang Theory, filed the suit against the show’s producers. But it appears that the lawsuit has been quietly settled, as seen from the documents filed with the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

The former assistant director of The Big Bang Theory sued Warner Bros. Television in August last year, saying he was discriminated against by the sitcom’s crew after turning 50 and was eventually replaced by younger and less experienced people.

Klausen served as an assistant director on The Big Bang Theory for seven years and claims that his last few years on the show weren’t the best ones, as his duties were gradually given to younger employees.

However, Warner Bros. denied the allegations that it was Klausen’s age that prompted the crew to terminate his contract, adding that The Big Bang Theory had “good cause” not to offer him a new contract.

It’s unclear what are the terms of the settlement yet, as both Klausen and Warner Bros. have been unwilling to comment on the current status of the lawsuit. A hearing regarding the settlement will be held on July 18.

In other news, The Big Bang Theory showrunner Steve Molaro has revealed what his office on the Warner Bros. lot looks like, according to Variety. And from Molaro’s own words, it’s “a little tech and a little stupid.”

As seen from the photos, Molaro’s office teems with all kinds of tech gadgets, robots, and toys. In his interview with Variety, The Big Bang Theory showrunner revealed he has had an obsession with robots ever since he was a kid.

And that’s why The Big Bang Theory set decorator Ann Shea decided to help him fulfill his childhood dreams and brought all kinds of robots to his workplace. Molaro’s office also features a metal desk and a clock with gears, which was presented to the sitcom’s showrunner as a gift by Johnny Galecki, who plays Leonard Hofstadter on the show.

And behind his desk, there are paintings of The Big Bang Theory main characters, which show their scientific disciplines in sign language. Looking at the paintings, Molaro recalled Melissa Rauch saying that she wished she looked “that good in her head shots.”

And there is also a Professor Proton action figure in his office. In fact, Molaro revealed that the entire The Big Bang Theory crew is obsessed with the Professor Proton episodes, which is why everybody was happy to see that new addition in Molaro’s office.

“One day, I said absent-mindedly, it would be so cool if there was a Professor Proton action figure. This crazy thing exists, and I have it.”

The Big Bang Theory crew once got a behind-the-scenes tour at Mattel, and each of them received a 3D sculpture of their heads. And Molaro praises the 3D sculptures, but he admits that all of their eyes look “a little wonky.”

And since his 3D sculpture ended up looking a little cross-eyed, Molaro came up with his own solution: wear an eye patch on that sculpture.

“I’m not bad**s enough in real life to pull off an eye patch, but in 3D form I can.”

And no geek’s office can go without some special decoration. And in The Big Bang Theory showrunner’s case, it’s a dinosaur head hanging on the wall. Molaro calls it Betsy Rexy. The reason he got it was because he thought he needed one, so he went to Amazon and ordered one. After living with Betsy Rexy for all these years, Molaro admits that anybody who owns an office should have a T-Rex head mounted on the wall. And each Christmas, The Big Bang Theory showrunner decorates the dinosaur’s head with a Santa hat.
