6 Times Carrie Underwood Was The Happiest Person Alive At The 2016 CMT Music Awards

It’s safe to say that Carrie Underwood was probably the happiest person alive while attending the CMT Music Awards on June 8.

Defending her crown as the CMT Music Awards most award artist at the big show, Carrie added another two trophies to her tally to make career total of 16 wins, and she understandably just couldn’t seem to stop smiling.

Take a look at all the times Carrie Underwood just couldn’t seem to wipe the smile off her face at the 2016 CMT Awards.

Underwood’s happy night started before she even got inside the Nashville, Tennessee, Bridgestone arena, where she also performed her latest single, “Church Bells.” Carrie, who walked the red carpet with husband Mike Fisher for the first time in a year, showed off her million-dollar smile all the way down the pink carpet as she perfectly matched the event’s backdrop.

Accepting Her Awards

Carrie was understandably thrilled when taking home her two awards of the night. Underwood couldn’t help but crack a huge smile while accepting the CMT Award buckle for Female Video of the Year for her 2015 release, “Smoke Break,” before she later hit the stage again to accept a buckle for CMT Performance of the Year for her CMT Instant Jam performance of “Smoke Break.”

Sitting In The Stands

Underwood’s mood was so infectious the country superstar couldn’t even seem to hold back a smile while watching the show from the stands. Carrie appeared to crack a joke with husband Mike Fisher while the two enjoyed the award show, who she couldn’t help but gush about to Entertainment Tonight.

“I like to go to things with him. He doesn’t get to come to many things with me, because his season is during my season, so he never gets to come to anything except the CMT Awards which is great,” Carrie told the site of her husband of almost six years. “I like showing him off.”

“He always looks hot but tonight he looks especially hot,” Underwood added.

Outside The Arena

It wasn’t just on stage or in the stands where Carrie couldn’t stop smiling, Underwood’s infectious happiness even spread outside of Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

Carrie took to Instagram after taking home her first award of the night for Female Video of the Year, where she posed with her winning card to tell fans just how happy she was, and didn’t hold back when it came to emojis.

“So… this just happened!!! I have the best fans in the world! Thank you!!!” Underwood captioned the outdoor selfie, alongside the hashtags “#CMTAwards,” “#happy,” “#blessed” and “#OnASideNoteMyHusbandLooksHotTonight” with a slew of different smiley face emojis.

Underwood seemed just as happy backstage at the arena as she did outside, where Carrie showed off a serious smile, and changed outfits, as she posed with fellow country star Tim McGraw.

Posing With Her Awards

Carrie’s infections smile even stretched well into the evening, where she was spotted posing backstage with her two newest CMT buckles. Social media user @carrie_CUAgain even noted alongside the snap that Underwood “looks so happy!” while showing off her latest wins.

But it wasn’t just the camera lens that caught Carrie Underwood unable to hold back her smile at the country award show, as a number of social media fans noticed Carrie’s infectious happy energy too.

“Carrie has never looked happier. So so happy for her and everything she has going for her,” Twitter user @CU_Everything tweeted out during the show. “We love you @carrieunderwood.”

“I’m so glad Carrie is happy. And is in a great place in her life,” @_carriesrelapse added, while @homelessheartxx tweeted out following the show on June 9 that “Carrie looked extra happy last night and I loved it.”

Aside from her two latest award show wins, there’s no doubting that Carrie Underwood has a whole lot to be happy about right now.

Underwood just completed the first leg of her wildly successful ‘Storyteller: Stories In The Round Tour,’ recently announced that her athleisure line with Dicks Sporting Goods would be expanding into swimwear and celebrated her second Mother’s Day as a mom to Isaiah, all while getting into the best shape of her life.
