‘Call Of Duty XP’ Fan Event Hits In September With Playable ‘Infinite Warfare’ And ‘Modern Warfare’

Activision announced the return of Call of Duty XP, a fan event that provides a look ahead at the upcoming yearly release for the franchise on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC as well as the current release. It will also play host the Call of Duty World League Championship on the PlayStation 4 with more than $2 million on the line.

Call of Duty XP 2016 will take place at the Forum in Inglewood, California, from September 2 through September 4. Tickets will go on sale Saturday, June 8 starting at 10 a.m. PT. Prices start at $48 to gain general admission access to all three days of the Call of Duty World League Championship plus the Call of Duty XP gameplay and activities. The $129 Veteran Ticket adds an $80 digital Legacy edition of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare plus a swag package. The Prestige Ticket is $199 and grants VIP treatment with play meet-and-greets, access to the VIP lounge, a parking pass, premium seating, the $100 Digital Deluxe Edition of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare plus plenty of swag.

Those that can’t attend Call of Duty XP 2016 can still watch it via livestreams. The Call of Duty channels on Twitch and YouTube will both showcase select events from fan event, as well as the Call of Duty World League Championship.

What might some of those select events be? Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s multiplayer will be playable for the first time following a world premiere event at the convention. Additionally, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will be on hand for players to check out its revamped multiplayer. It should be interesting to see the contrasts between the remastered game that blew up Call of Duty’s popularity versus the state of the multiplayer nearly a decade later.

Additionally, what should be the fourth Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 DLC will be playable at the event. Activision plans to have more than 500 gameplay stations installed at the XP event for fans to partake in the action of Infinite Warfare, Modern Warfare, and Black Ops 3.

Interestingly, Activision will also have a PlayStation VR experience available on-site. Fans will be able to try to pilot the Jackal fighter jet from Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare using Sony’s VR headset for the PS4.

Other activities include developer panels and Q&As with Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer Games, a Call of Duty armory and museum, photo booths, paintball, and a surprise musical guest.

Call of Duty XP is going to be the biggest Call of Duty fan celebration in history,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing. “The best Call of Duty players in the world will be front and center trying to win the first Call of Duty World League Championship at what is sure to be our biggest Esports event ever. Plus, fans will be able to see and play more hands-on content and reveals in one place than we’ve ever had, from Infinite Warfare, to Modern Warfare Remastered to Black Ops III DLC. Plus, there will be an off-the-charts list of Call of Duty inspired activities that you can’t experience anywhere else.”

“As a presenting partner of the Call of Duty World League, it’s been exciting to watch these talented teams compete and we’re looking forward to the culmination of the tournament during the Call of Duty Championship. We’re also thrilled to be bringing PlayStation VR to the amazing lineup of event activities, where fans will experience the thrill of piloting their own Jackal fighter jet,” said Adam Boyes, VP of Publisher Relations, Sony Interactive Entertainment America. “We’re proud to partner with Activision and Call of Duty on the return of this historic fan celebration and this can’t miss Call of Dutycommunity gathering.”
