Demi Lovato On Addiction, Why She Won’t Apologize For Taylor Swift Dig, How Joe Jonas Might Have Caused Break-Up

Demi Lovato, the American singer and actress who started out as a Disney sweetheart and got her big break in Camp Rock, isn’t shy about admitting that she had some problems earlier in her life. She has since overcome her problems and now leads a sober life, but she is also happy to open up about her drug addiction in order to help others.

According to the Mirror, Demi Lovato was not a nice person at all before she committed to living a sober life.

She revealed that she had a seriously “b***hy” attitude before she entered rehab. Demi also believes that she was a completely different person when she abused drugs.

Demi Lovato spoke about her drug addiction and how it changed her personality.

“Prior to getting sober, I was one of those people who was like, I don’t give a f**k. Whatever. And I used that as an excuse to do whatever I wanted. I was a nightmare to work with.”

Details of her shocking addiction to drugs were revealed last year. Demi was on a downward spiral, crashing and burning with no control whatsoever. At one stage of the addiction, Demi realized that she was not able to go more than a few minutes without taking cocaine.

Demi Lovato spoke on her intense addiction to cocaine and how frequently she took it, even admitting how hard plane travel was for her.

“I couldn’t go 30 minutes to an hour without cocaine and I would bring it on airplanes.”

While admitting that she had a lot of people willing to help her, Demi Lovato says that she didn’t want the help at the time. And that was the moment that she realized she had become “one of those people” and that she needed to make some changes.

“I had all the help in the world, but I didn’t want it. When I hit that moment, I was like ‘It’s no longer fun when you’re doing it alone’. That is alcoholic behavior, it’s no longer ‘I’m young and rebellious and out to have fun’ it was ‘Wow, I’m one of those people. I’ve got to get my act together.'”

And from there, Demi Lovato’s life hit a further low after she allegedly physically attacked one of her backup dancers after a night of partying in 2010.

In other news, the Huffington Post reports that Demi Lovato made a not-so-subtle dig at Taylor Swift via Twitter.

Demi Lovato is a friend to Kesha, who is undergoing a legal battle with Sony and her former producer Dr. Luke, and Demi has been very vocal about her support for Kesha. At one point, Demi tweeted a dig at Taylor Swift, who donated $250,000 to Kesha’s case. Demi thinks that the media is trying to get her and Taylor Swift to fight instead of focusing on other issues that matter a lot more.

Either way, she still stands by what she did.

Demi Lovato spoke her mind on what the media is trying to do to her and Taylor Swift, accusing the press of trying to pit her against her peer.

“Listen, there’s nothing positive that comes from pitting women against each other. There are women that I don’t get along with, and that’s fine.”

She went on to say that women shouldn’t “brand themselves” as feminists if they’re not willing to “do the work.”

“I have an immense amount of respect for women like Lena Dunham… or Beyoncé, who make amazing political statements through their work.”

Despite the criticism that she may receive, it’s clear that Demi Lovato will not stop believing in what she chooses to believe in. She received a significant amount of backlash for her infamous tweet against Taylor Swift, but she still seems to have no problem standing up for herself, which she feels is because of her Texan upbringing. And while she doesn’t approach things with an aggressive mentality, she still understands that she sometimes perceives things to be the way they are to her, even if that means having a difference of opinion with the majority.

And speaking of Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift, observant fans would realize that both recently became single. Swift and her boyfriend Calvin Harris split after over a year of dating, and Demi and her longtime boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama split after an impressive six years together.

Now, a new theory is attempting to blame Joe Jonas for these two high-profile breakups. How? Called the “Joe Jonas Curse,” this theory states that anyone who dated Joe Jonas in the past would go on to have bad luck in future relationships. Someone else who previously dated the famous Jonas brother is Gigi Hadid, whose high-profile relationship with Zayn Malik ended recently.

According to Seventeen magazine, Demi Lovato’s relationship ended for the same reason that Taylor and Calvin split: Their romance had disappeared and they were left with only a friendship.

“It had turned into more of a big brother-little sister kind of relationship. The romance wasn’t what it used to be.”
