Harry Styles Weighs In On Taylor Swift & Calvin Harris’ Surprising Split

Harry Styles is giving ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift a little advice about her big break-up with Calvin Harris.

According to a new report by Hollywood Life, Styles is allegedly urging Swift to hold off on doing what she does best, writing a song about the failed relationship, for fears that it could prevent a reconciliation.

The site is claiming that Harry actually believes there’s still hope for Taylor and Calvin in the wake of their break-up, which the two officially confirmed last week, and feels that if Swift launches into writing and recording a scathing new track about her split, she could regret it.

“Harry doesn’t think their break-up is a done deal,” an insider close to the One Direction star allegedly told the gossip site in the wake of Taylor and Calvin’s surprising break-up.

“Harry knows Taylor’s thing is to write about her ex boyfriends, but he thinks she should hold off when it comes to Calvin,” Hollywood Life‘s source continued of Styles. “He thinks she may regret it and could hurt the chances of them reconciling in the future.”

While Harry is yet to confirm reports that he’s been dishing out a little break-up advice to Taylor, who he’s reported to have dated for several months in 2012, there’s no doubting that Styles certainly has some experience when it comes to being on the receiving end of one of Swift’s break-up anthems.

Styles is rumored to be the inspiration behind a number of Swift’s biggest hits since the two split almost four years ago, including Taylor’s 2014 single, “Out Of the Woods.”

Taylor Swift never officially confirmed or denied that the track was inspired by Harry, though Swift did reveal in October 2015 that the song was written about one of her past relationships that was “very fragile.”

“I’m going to play you a song that I wrote about a relationship that I was in that the number one feeling I felt in the whole relationship was anxiety,” Swift told fans before performing the hit during an appearance at the Grammy museum according to The Daily Mail.

“It felt very fragile, it felt very tentative,” Taylor Swift continued, appearing to allude to her and Harry Styles’ short-lived romance. “It always felt like, ‘Okay, what’s the next road block? What’s the next thing that’s going to deter this? How long do we have before this turns into just an awful mess and we break up? Is it a month? Is it three days?'”

Elle also speculated that the song was all about Styles and Swift’s brief romance, pointing out a number of clues that appeared to allude to Harry, including Taylor ripping off a paper airplane necklace in the music video that was rumored to belong to Styles.

But while Taylor has stayed pretty tight-lipped when it comes to explicitly referencing her past relationship with Styles, Harry has spoken out about Taylor in the wake of their split in a 2013.

Harry Styles was quizzed about Taylor in an interview with CapitalFM radio, but Styles had nothing but praise for Swift following their break-up.

“She’s a great performer and she always performs great. She’s always good on the stage. She’s been doing it a long time. She knows what she’s doing on stage,” Harry said of his former flame at the time.

Styles was then pushed to reveal more about his past romance with Taylor, though Harry played coy about their relationship and what lead to their early 2013 split.

“I understand why people would want to know stuff like that, I get it,” Styles admitted on the radio show. “If someone does stuff like that then I want to know about it, too. I guess it just kind of… It is what it is, I guess.”
