Simon Cowell Rescues Several People From Sinking Ship

Simon Cowell may be a hard-nosed judge on The X Factor, but he’s not above saving a few lives should the opportunity present itself. According to The Examiner the former American Idol judge sprang into action when he heard that several people were still aboard a sinking ship in St. Tropez on Wednesday.

Cowell, who was hanging out and having some fun with ex-girlfriend Sinitta at the time, heard the distress call come over the radio. As soon as Cowell learned that the sinking ship was in the area, he immediately dispatched a boat to help the people get back to safety. He may be known for being cold and callous, but apparently he doesn’t mind lending his services to those in need.

In addition to pulling several people out of the turbulent waters, Cowell’s crew also saved the boat by plugging the problematic hole, TMZ reports.

Sinitta, meanwhile, took to Twitter to explain the situation to her legion of followers:

“OMG!! Just had a May Day message , 35ft boat sinking.. SC has sent us to help and rescue 9 people on board! Slipstream look alike boat. Everyone ok, noone hurt.captain won’t let boat sink, petrol in sea etc would cause major problems and fines. No tide, so hole plugged.”

Gossip Cop reports that this isn’t the first time Cowell has used one of his expensive vehicles to help out a fellow human being in need. Back in February, the X Factor judge allowed a Britain’s Got Talent employee use his private jet in order to attend the birth of his child.

Although many people may think that Cowell is a wonderful, stand-up guy, the people on the upcoming season of The X Factor USA may feel otherwise. Simon and his colorful opinions are currently slated to return to airwaves here in the States on September 12.
