Although Anger Management star Charlie Sheen has enjoyed success on the small screen as of late, it’s been a while since he’s done anything on the big screen that actually mattered. Fortunately for Sheen, his cinematic star will have an opportunity to shine once again when director Roman Coppola’s A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III hits theaters in North America sometime next year.
According to Movie City News, the former Two and a Half Men star will play the titular character in the Moonrise Kingdom co-writer’s latest big screen endeavor. In addition to featuring Sheen, the film stars Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, Patricia Arquette, Aubrey Plaza, Katheryn Winnick, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World cutie Mary Elizabeth Winstead. A24 will reportedly bring the film to theaters next February.
Worst Previews states that the upcoming picture will follow the adventures of a “a successful graphic designer whose girlfriend breaks up with him and causes his life to head into a downward spiral.” Given the amount of person turmoil Sheen has experienced over the past few years, chances are he didn’t have to dig very deep for inspiration.
A24 is apparently quite happy with their recent acquisition. “We couldn’t be more proud to launch our company than with Roman’s film,” the company said in a recent statement. “He’s an innovative storyteller who has made a romp of a movie that looks like it was as much fun to make as it was for us to watch. Charlie’s heartbreaking, hysterical, and touching performance reminds you of why he shot to stardom on screen.”
A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III isn’t the only cinematic endeavor looming on Charlie Sheen’s horizon. The actor will reportedly play the President of the United States in director Robert Rodriguez’s action flick Machete Kills. He’s also currently slated to play a character named Tom Logan in the latest installment of the Scary Movie franchise.
