Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt has been suspended one game by the NFL for the DUI he received in the offseason.

On July 20th, the fourth-year receiver was arrested at approximately 3:30 am when he attempted to enter a gate at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. Britt was administered a field sobriety test and reportedly declined a Breathlyzer test.

The single-game ban news came as a relief to Britt and to Titans fans as it was widely speculated that the athlete would receive a harsher punishment following his eighth incident involving the police since he entered the NFL in 2009.

He has made two separate visits to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to discuss his off-the-field behavior.

“Actually, it’s a gift from God that it’s only one week,” said Britt, who is recovering from offseason knee surgery and was removed from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list earlier this week. “I’m just happy that God spoke to him (Goodell) and put the right thing in his heart, and I’ll move forward. It’s definitely a relief.”

With the one-game suspension, Britt will miss the regular-season opener against the New England Patriots in Nashville on September 9. The 23-year-old Rutgers alum will be eligible for week two when the Titans play the Chargers in San Diego.

Prior to his knee injury, which occurred just three games into the 2011 season, Britt was on a record-setting pace, posting numbers of 14 catches for 271 yards and 3 touchdowns in his first two games.

In 2010, Britt only played ten games but scored 9 touchdowns and averaged about 4 catches for 78 yards per contest.
