New Jersey Pathmark Supermarkert Shooting, Three Confirmed Dead [Video]

9 am UPDATE – The Pathmark supermarket shooter was allegedly a former Marine who had been working at the New Jersey grocery store for approximately two weeks, according to NJ.Com. The Pathmark shooter reportedly left the store on Thursday evening and came back sometime later armed with an automatic pistol and an AK-47 assault rifle.

8:50 am UPDATE – The Pathmark shooter was a 23-year-old man, according to New Jersey 101.5 News. Among those confirmed dead is an 18-year-old girl. Old Bridge Mayor Owen Henry reports the Pathmark grocery store shooter was a disgruntled former employee who shot two New Jersey supermarket employees and then himself. The yet unnamed shooter allegedly entered the Pathmark supermarket wearing body armor and began firing.

Trenton, NJ – At least three people are confirmed dead in at Pathmark grocery store shooting in Old Bridge, a suburb approximately 25 miles from New York City. The New Jersey supermarket shooting occurred during the early morning hours; the store was closed at the time. The shooter is among those killed at the Pathmark supermarket, according to the Associated Press.

The Pathmark shooting in the Old Bridge Shopping Plaza occurred at approximately 4 am Friday morning. Heavily armed police officers converged on the New Jersey supermarket quickly after reports of shots fired were called in to 911 dispatchers. Preliminary reports from NBC News indicate that windows were broken in the New Jersey grocery store. Some conversation between police officers and the shooter is said to have taken place. It is unknown at this time of the shooter died at his own hand or was shot by police officers.

New Jersey SWAT teams were visible in the Pathmark parking lot; they were believed to be securing the area and confirming that the grocery store shooting involved just one gunman. No motive is yet known in the Pathmark supermarket shooting. The Pathmark grocery store reportedly closes at 1 am and reopens at 6 am. Employees were moved to a nearby restaurant by police officers for security and questioning purposes. Helicopter images of the Pathmark shooting scene indicate that approximately 12 grocery store workers were inside the Pathmark store at the time of the mass shooting.
