Chris Cornell has pulled out of a planned performance he was set to deliver as part of Jay-Z’s inaugural Made In America music festival. The Soundgarden singer had originally agreed to the gig which is happening over the Labor Day weekend.

On his Facebook page a Chris Cornell representative writes:

“Unfortunately, due to a scheduling conflict Chris Cornell is unable to perform at the Made in America festival in Philadelphia on September 2 as previously planned. Apologies for any inconvenience or disappointment.”

Cornell apologized to many of his fans who may have only purchased tickets to the event to see him perform. According to Cornell he had let event organizers know weeks ago that he would not be able to perform. Cornell is not sure why nobody alerted ticket buyers.

In another Facebook post Chris Cornell writes:

“Woke up to learn some people f—ed up. I pulled out of the MIA Festival 2 weeks ago. I apologize to my fans that you were not told and bought tix. I will find a resolution and get back to u.”

The very first Made In America concert will be held in Philadelphia on September 1. Acts performing at the show still include Pearl Jam, Passion Pit, Drake and Run-DMC among others.

Concert promoters have not reported any requests for ticket refunds at this time, perhaps with Pearl Jam performing enough Soundgarden fans have found reason to still attend the show which promises to deliver top-shelf talent.
