Federal Agents Seize Skin Care Products

Washington, DC (AHN) – U.S. Marshals seized all skin sanitizers and other skin-care products made by a Utah company because the Food and Drug Administration said the products contain harmful bacteria.
The FDA said the products made by Clarcon Biological Chemistry Laboratory are marketed as antimicrobial agents that treat open wounds, damaged skin and protect against various infectious diseases.
Clarcon voluntarily recalled the products in June after an FDA inspection found high levels of potentially disease-causing bacteria in them, according to an FDA announcement.
But the agency said the company refused to destroy the products, which prompted the Marshals to seize them.
The FDA said people with the products in their homes should throw them out. The products are: Citrushield Lotion, Dermasentials DermaBarrier, Dermassentials by Clarcon Antimicrobial Hand Sanitizer, Iron Fist Barrier Hand Treatment, Skin Shield Restaurant, Skin Shield Industrial, Skin Shield Beauty Salon Lotion, Total Skin Care Beauty and Total Skin Care Work.
