This Member Of The Avengers Could Appear In Marvel’s ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2’

It has been revealed that the final film in Marvel’s Phase 3 is going to be Avengers: Infinity War (tentative title), and it will bring the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) together. Seeing Spider-Man on the screen with the Avengers in Captain America: Civil War yielded excitement that knows no bounds, but there’s much more coming. Not only is Hulk going to be a major part of Thor: Ragnarok, but it looks like Thor may also appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

James Gunn is one of those writers/directors who loves to tease the fans and play with their minds. Doing so with fans of Marvel is, perhaps, easy because they want so much to believe that anything in the Marvel universe is possible; now, it truly may be.

As Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is currently filming for its release in May of next year, Gunn has decided to really mess with the minds of the fans.

Yes, that is Gunn holding on to the trusty hammer of Thor (Chris Hemsworth) known as Mjolnir. Now, Gunn is indeed on the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 because it is in the middle of production.

That brings about the ultimate question: What is Thor’s hammer doing anywhere near where the Guardians are?

As expected, this has led to a lot of speculation on the part of the fans, and on movie websites around the world. Yahoo Movies has taken time out of their day to express their happiness in seeing James Gunn holding onto Thor’s hammer and the possibilities that it may bring.

But, Gunn was right there to squash any thrills they may have had.

As it turns out, Gunn is saying that he just decided to hold Thor’s hammer and pose for an Internet-breaking pic because “it was around” on the set. That’s kind of hard to believe, but it’s not like he would let the cat out of the bag until the last possible second.

Tease the fans. Squash their dreams. Then, thrill everyone when the film is released and Thor is actually in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

In November 2017, Thor: Ragnarok will hit theaters and show everyone exactly why the Asgardian god was nowhere to be found in Captain America: Civil War. Fans will also finally learn what happened to Hulk after he took off in the jet at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Digital Spy recently revealed that Mark Ruffalo is not only going to star as Bruce Banner/Hulk in the third Thor film, but there is going to be a deep storyline regarding his appearance. It’s quite possible that the “Planet Hulk” storyline from the Marvel Comics is going to play a huge part in the film, and that has fans really excited.

In the comic book world, the “Planet Hulk” story began in 2006 and continued into 2007; it saw Hulk banished to a far-off world by the Illuminati (Iron Man, Black Bolt, Professor X, Doctor Strange, Mister Fantastic, and Namor).

Somehow, some way, that storyline is expected to be intertwined with Thor dealing with his own problems in Ragnarok and needing the help of his big, green friend. Perhaps, this story in space is what will end up leading to Thor crossing paths with the Guardians so as to set up his film in November of next year.

Crossovers are nothing new in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but there is still so much more on the horizon. Hulk being a part of Thor: Ragnarok will give those two some great on-screen time that they missed by not being in Civil War. If James Gunn really does bring Chris Hemsworth’s Thor over to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, then it’s going to truly make the whole universe connected in ways that fans have only dreamed.
