2016 MacBook Pro Angers Apple Fans Just Like iPhone 7

Last week, details of the new MacBook Pro were leaked, and, at first, it seemed to cause a lot of excitement. Gizmodo broke the news.

“Dependable rumors suggest that the MacBook Pro is about to get major revamp. According to a new report from Ming-Chi Kuo at KGI Securities, Apple will release a dramatic redesign of the MacBook Pro in the fourth quarter. ‘Dramatic’ might be too small a word, actually.”

The article added that the new MacBook Pro will not only be thinner and lighter, but will have an OLED touch bar right above the keyboard, where the function buttons currently sit. The secondary screen will be touch sensitive and can be used for things such as shortcuts. The new MacBook Pro will also support Touch ID, USB-C, and Thunderbolt 3.

At first, there was a lot of excitement on social media.

However, within days, a huge portion of the Apple fan community showed anger.

“But it seems the company will have to win some fans over first, because many aren’t happy about these changes. One of the biggest complaints is Apple’s apparent switch to USB-C… and only USB-C. There are four ports — three more than the 12-inch MacBook has — but none of them are standard USB ports,” writes Killian Bell from Cult of Mac.

Killian adds that fans are also angry with the rumored change of the keyboard, which will allegedly offer thinner keys with less travel. Others are worried that the new OLED touch panel below the screen will also make the Retina screen look awful. They also don’t like the fact that it will take the place of the function keys. Some commenters at the end of the article think that the complainers really need to stop, at least for now.

“At the moment, no one has used these features on a released MacBook Pro; why don’t we reserve our opinions after some of you have a chance to play with these features and then write here?” asks Arin.

“Same people who were pissed about going to lightning from 30-pin connector… what’s the big deal? Get an adapter or buy a brand new USB-C flash drive for $20,” states David Kaplan.

However, angry tweets about the new MacBook Pro, even though it hasn’t been officially announced yet, keep popping up on Twitter.

The rumored MacBook Pro isn’t the only thing angering Apple fans; they have been very vocal about the upcoming iPhone 7, which is said to be only a minor upgrade from the iPhone 6s. One of the sites claiming that the iPhone 7 won’t be a huge upgrade is ValueWalk.

“Early indications from the likes of KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggest that the iPhone 7 may be something of an incremental upgrade to the iPhone 6S, with the major smartphone revolution coming next year with the release of the iPhone 8.”

The article notes that one thing that will change is the pretty big camera bulge on the back of the iPhone. Still, many Apple fans aren’t impressed.

Those who are waiting for a completely redesigned iPhone may have to wait for the iPhone 8, which is said to offer a borderless OLED screen, wireless charging, and the deletion of the Home button.
