5 Seconds Of Summer, Fall Out Boy On ‘Ghostbusters’ Soundtrack

The original Ghostbusters theme song was recorded by Ray Parker Jr., but the Ghostbusters reboot theme song is going to a mix of hip-hop and alternative rock. Details about the highly anticipated new theme song and soundtrack have been slowly coming out.

The Ghostbusters reboot soundtrack will include songs by 5 Seconds of Summer, Fall Out Boy, and Missy Elliott, among others. 5 Seconds of Summer have already announced the exciting news on social media.

Their new song is titled “Girls Talk Boys.” The Australian band’s new song will drop on July 15, on the same day that the Ghostbusters reboot opens in theaters. The announcement was made on 5 Seconds of Summer’s official Twitter account on Thursday night, June 2.

“Who you gonna call? #Ghostbusters,” the band tweeted on their Twitter account.

The song is currently available for pre-order on iTunes. It’s likely that the song will focus on the all-female cast of the supernatural comedy reboot that’s to replace the original all-male lineup.

Calum Hood, Luke Hemmings, Mike Clifford, and Ashton Irwin are in the middle of their Sounds Live Feels Live tour to promote their second studio album, Sounds Good Feels Good.

Fall Out Boy also has some exciting news to share, as well. The band will be teaming up with Missy Elliott to remake the classic 1984 Ghostbusters theme song.

On June 2, Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz tweeted, “Crossed one off the kid dream bucket list by covering Ray Parker theme with Missy Elliott verse.”

Unfortunately, it’s not known when the song will drop. It’s likely that it will drop the same day as 5 Seconds of Summer’s new song or at least a week before the Ghostbusters reboot opens in theaters. Fans of the classic can rest assured that Ray Parker Jr’s original theme song will also be included on the soundtrack.

Meanwhile, Ellie King’s new song “Good Girls” is also featured on the soundtrack. It dropped Friday morning (June 3) and is available for download on iTunes. You can also check out the new song below.

Among the already mentioned acts, G-Eazy ft. Jeremih, Pentatonix, WALK THE MOON, and Wolf Alice will also be featured on the soundtrack. The full tracklist for the album should be announced shortly, according to Billboard.

The Ghostbusters reboot trailer has become one of the most disliked trailers on YouTube, but it probably still has nothing on the Jem reboot trailer. The Ghostbusters trailer is currently the ninth most disliked video ever, but was beat out by both Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus’ music videos.

Original Ghostbuster Dan Aykroyd defended the critics and shared his thoughts on the new film.

“As originator of the original: Saw test screening of new movie. Apart from brilliant, genuine performances from the cast both female and male, it has more laughs and more scares than the first 2 films plus Bill Murray is in it! As one of millions of man-fans and Ray Stantz, I’m paying to see that and bringing all my friends!”

Just a few days ago, Ghostbusters reboot star Melissa McCarthy fought back at the negative response to the trailer on social media.

“All those comments – ‘You’re ruining my childhood!’ I mean, really, four women doing any movie on earth will destroy your childhood? I have a visual of those people not having a Ben [Falcone, McCarthy’s husband], not having friends. So they’re just sitting there and spewing hate into this fake world of the internet. I just hope they find a friend.”
