Art, Freedom, Kendall Jenner, Taylor Swift — Harry Styles Speaks Out As Calvin Harris Moves On

Harry Styles dated Taylor Swift back in 2012/2013, and the couple split after an “almighty row,” reports the Daily Mail.

“[Harry and Taylor] were on holiday and had an almighty row. They are two young stars at the top of their game so who knows what will happen in the future.”

Styles and Swift went on to write songs about each other — “Style” from Taylor Swift’s 1989 album is thought to be about Harry, and Harry’s climactic line about breakup songs in One Direction’s “Perfect” is thought to be about Taylor Swift.

When Taylor started seeing Calvin Harris seriously 15 months ago, fans were relieved that Swift had finally found love.

Taylor didn’t seem to be completely over Harry, though. When Harry started dating Kendall Jenner over New Years, there were reports that Taylor Swift was upset about it, even though she was in a relationship with someone else!

Hollywood Life reported that Taylor hated seeing Harry Styles and Kendall Jenner together.

At the time, Swift allegedly told her friends that “it bites [to see Harry with someone else.]”

A Taylor insider claimed that Taylor was not jealous, and she was not in love with Harry anymore, she was just upset and bitter.

“In no way does Taylor still love her ex, Harry Styles, 21, but because of how badly he treated her when they dated, she hates hearing about him being happy with anyone else. And lately, all she has been hearing is about how Harry’s dating Kendall Jenner, 20. It’s like a punch in the gut.”

Kendall Jenner’s incredible beauty did not make things any easier for Swift.

“Taylor hates to hear about Harry being with anyone else. It’s not that she’s still in love with him or anything, but her whole relationship with him was kind of a blow to her ego. He had such a wandering eye and he was such a flirt that she was always on edge. Plus, he always made it clear that he loved exotic women with dark hair and dark eyes, so the fact that he’s dating Kendall Jenner hasn’t exactly made her feel awesome.”

This week, it emerged that Taylor Swift and her boyfriend, Calvin Harris, have split. Reports claim that Swift was eager to begin planning marriage and babies, but the gym-loving 32-year-old DJ wanted to focus on exercise, his music, and “living in the moment,” reports Hollywood Life.

It must be an awful case of deja vu for Taylor — Harry Styles also chose adventure, casual flings, and artistic exploration over a serious relationship with her.

Harry, who is in the middle of filming for his first Hollywood feature, Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, took to Instagram today to like a post that speaks volumes about his state of mind.

Harry liked a post about Tomo Campbell, an artist who approaches painting with the exploratory, improvisational attitude of a jazz musician. The title speaks about “finding perfection in imperfection,” and the Dazed article discusses how rewarding it can be to take an experimental approach to art-making, relishing not just the moments of flow, mastery, and finesse, but the uncertain and chaotic moments, too — the latter can bring real poignancy and character to a piece. A creator who embraces that chaos is also giving him/herself permission to keep exploring and growing.

Harry Styles is becoming more well known for his songwriting, having written tracks for people like Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor. People who work with Harry say that he is as “loosey-goosey” during writing sessions as Kendall Jenner accused him of being with her heart — the guy from OneRepublic reported that Harry will reply “I don’t know” if a collaborator asks him “what is this song for?”

It was not only Kendall who lost super-creative Harry to the lure of art and freedom: Taylor did too!

Harry Styles has reportedly spoken out about the Taylor Swift/Calvin Harris split, saying he was surprised by it — he thought Taylor and Calvin would get engaged. Harry Styles also said that he believes Taylor will write some great breakup songs about Calvin Harris, according to Hollywood Life.
