Grooveshark lost its Google Android app store status after the company came under attack by music labels who claimed the company was stealing content through missed and low payments; now, months after being banned, the music service has re-emerged on the newly branded Google Play store.

Grooveshark recently helped Google shut down programs that allow music to be illegally downloaded rather than simply streamed, a move that apparently won the company favor among Google’s mobile division.

The music streaming service helped Google after it realized that other apps that were using Grooveshark’s name were allowing music to be permanently placed on a users smartphone. After Grooveshark pointed out the scam, Google was able to take immediate action.

In re-entering the Google Play marketplace, Grooveshark released the following statement:

“After working closely with Google to get rogue apps removed, we’re delighted that the official Grooveshark app has been reinstated in the Android market. Grooveshark is dedicated to helping music fans search, discover and share music while pioneering new artist promotion, distribution and monetization techniques. We look forward to continuing to build a relationship with Android and leverage this fantastic platform for our partners.”

The Grooveshark app haf been removed from the Google App store since April. At this time, Google has not yet commented on the re-emergence of the music streaming app.

Grooveshark has been working with major and smaller labels to pay back millions of dollars it owes for streaming copyrighted music without permission.

Will you be taking advantage of the Grooveshark mobile app for Google Android?
