Once Again, ‘The Simpsons’ Predicted The Future – This Time, It Was Harambe The Gorilla

The tragic and controversial situation out of the Cincinnati Zoo last week has left many people torn and confused as to what should have been done. Harambe the gorilla had to be shot and killed after a young child made his way into the animal’s enclosure and found himself in a rather dangerous situation. In a wild bit of foreshadowing, a fan of The Simpsons has realized that the popular animated family has once again predicted the future.

There are so many stories and opinions on the story of Harambe the gorilla and what should or shouldn’t have been done. While those opinions are hashed out among countless people, one very observant person on Imgur was able to remember and point out a very similar scene from an episode of The Simpsons in 2006.

As pointed out by Metro, the episode in question was titled “Bart Has Two Mommies,” and it saw Homer take Bart and Lisa to a sanctuary for movie animals who had retired. An elderly female chimpanzee named Toot-Toot reaches up and pulls Bart into her cage.

From that point, Toot-Toot actually takes on Bart as her own child after he offers the chimpanzee a bit of his ice cream cone. Bart ends up captive in the enclosure with the chimpanzee, and noone can rescue him, so it leads to numerous plans, ideas, and prayers.

The chimpanzee never ends up hurting Bart, and it’s actually quite a funny episode, but there is a big difference in the two situations. In this episode of The Simpsons, Rod Flanders ends up climbing down into the enclosure and is able to rescue Bart from the hands of Toot-Toot.

In the end, Rod trades Toot-Toot’s chimpanzee son Mr. Teeny to her in exchange for Bart, and all works out alright. Ned Flanders isn’t very happy with Marge for encouraging his son to do something dangerous, but Maude Flanders looks down from heaven with pride on her face.

The situation with Harambe the gorilla and the little boy at the Cincinnati Zoo is no laughing matter, but it’s quite freaky that The Simpsons have this power.

Over the years, The Simpsons have done an incredible job of predicting some humorous and serious situations that no one could have seen coming. The Sun pointed out a lot of the predictions that have come true on the TV series over time, and most of them are years and years in advance.

Here are some of the predictions that The Simpsons freakishly predicted:

  • The death of Prince – An episode in 2008
  • Ebola – An episode in 1997
  • Donald Trump as president – An episode in 2000
  • Financial collapse in Greece – An episode in 2013
  • The FIFA corruption scandal – An episode in 2014

One of the weirdest and most terrifying predictions came in an episode where the Simpsons head to New York, and that is when they predicted the attacks on 9/11. Observer reports that Lisa holds up a magazine showing New York with $9 shown right in the middle of it and the Twin Towers off to the right side looking like the number 11.

The episode is titled “The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson” and originally aired in 1997, and it was actually taken out of syndication for a long time. Over the years, it has since returned to syndication, but still stands as one of the most shocking predictions in history.

Many people don’t know what to think about the situation regarding Harambe the gorilla and the Cincinnati Zoo having to shoot him. There are two major sides to this case, and it’s caused a huge rift in society as to what is right and what is wrong. Meanwhile, others are trying to move on from it and look at it in a different light which has so many people wondering how The Simpsons are able to accurately predict the future so often.
