Ayesha Curry: Stephen Curry’s Wife, Now A Star In Her Own Right, Back In Spotlight As Warriors Return To NBA Finals

Ayesha Curry was something of a newcomer to the spotlight last year when husband Stephen Curry led his Golden State Warriors to the NBA title. Now, as Curry leads his team back one year later, Ayesha has blossomed into a star in her own right, with a growing internet presence and now even her own television show.

As Stephen Curry has made the jump to oft-injured sharpshooter to bonafide NBA superstar in the past few seasons, there has been plenty of attention on his famous family, especially his wife. Ayesha Curry was a fixture on the broadcasts of the 2015 NBA Finals, often showing up with Stephen for post-game interviews.

Now, the 27-year-old lifestyle blogger is using that attention to further her own career. In April, Ayesha Curry announced that she would have her own show on the Food Network.

“Thank you so much for your kind words! I am so excited about my @CookingChannel #foodnetwork show!!! Stay tuned for details,” Curry told fans.

“I’ve been cooking since I was 12 years old for my entire family and now cook for my own little family and I’m thrilled to share it with you,” she added. “For anyone who truly knows me, they know food is my way of making people feel great and warm and happy.”

While she has been thrust into the spotlight, Ayesha Curry has remained grounded, and her faith is a big part of that. As The Undefeated noted, Stephen Curry has placed importance on his faith as well.

“If anything is certain about the reigning two-time NBA MVP – besides the arc of the ball as it leaves his hands and finds the hoop with record-breaking accuracy – it’s that Curry believes in himself because he believes in God. His faith is his pillar, a faith gleaned and nurtured at Central Church of God in Charlotte, North Carolina, a Pentecostal mega-church with 6,000 members where he met his wife as a teen and whose services they continue to stream online.”

“Steph’s faith undoubtedly helped to keep his team, the Golden State Warriors, together when they were down 3-1 to the Oklahoma City Thunder and left for dead before battling back to win their thrilling Western Conference Finals contest.”

As a child, Stephen and his family gathered for a half-hour devotion before heading off to school where they thanked God for their blessings.

It’s a habit that has continued into his NBA career. Ayesha Curry said her husband has taken a humble approach to his career, grateful to God for his abilities and focused on his team rather than himself.

“After his speech [accepting the MVP award], we had a dinner and he didn’t say much about it,” Ayesha Curry said. “It was just like the basics of trying to win this championship. So even in our house that’s not much talked about unless there’s a game on. Everything’s very normal around here.”

Despite his desire to float below the radar, Stephen Curry has risen to the top of the NBA as he led his team to a league-record 73 wins this season and smashed the NBA 3-pointer record while doing it. Curry capped off the season with the first unanimous MVP win in the league’s history.

But despite their efforts to keep quiet, both Stephen and his wife Ayesha Curry have become stars themselves. Aside from Ayesha’s Food Network show, the couple has appeared in commercials together, and someone even started a parody Twitter account of Ayesha called @ChiIIOutAyesha that dispenses some backhanded advice. A true sign that she’s made it.
