WWE News: Major Changes Set For WWE Tag Team Division, Some Teams Changing After WWE Draft

The WWE Draft will be coming in July with a brand split that will change the landscape of the WWE for the better… at least that’s the hope. The draft changes a lot of things, but one of the biggest may be tag teams. In the past we’ve seen former champions break up because of the split, such as The Dudley Boyz and Miz and John Morrison. The draft also allows us to see the formation of new teams as well, which brings the good into play for talent.

According to Daily Wrestling News, the draft will bring significant changes to the tag team division. One thing being rumored is that there will be two sets of tag team championships. One would imagine that WWE will do as they did years ago and have another set come into play sometime after the initial draft. It is not expected for WWE to add them day one, as it would not make a lot of sense to do so.

If WWE does this, we can probably imagine that they will also end up adding another World Heavyweight Title an Women’s Title, which have also been rumored. That means we have to pay attention to what WWE goes with the draft. If WWE ends up splitting the great women’s wrestlers up, there is a good shot there will be two championships. For example, if Charlotte and Paige end up on WWE RAW and Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch end up on WWE SmackDown, it would be obvious then that WWE will add another Women’s Title pretty quickly.

If WWE keeps the great women’s workers together, then it is doubtful another comes into play. The same can be said for tag teams as well. WWE doesn’t want to split some, especially the newer teams. But long-term teams may be in trouble. The New Day teased the possibility that they could be broken up this past week on WWE RAW, so there is a shot no one is safe at this point.

As far as the thoughts of some tag teams, it is being said via DWN that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon has already given up on The Shining Stars tag team. Primo and Epico were teased for weeks heading into their debut a little while back. Their promo tanked with fans really hating the duo. While their match was seen as good by most, the gimmick just didn’t work. WWE has continued doing vignettes with them seemingly, but they have not done a lot with them since their debut.

That is certainly by design, as Vince no longer sees them in a good light. When we talk of splitting tag teams, this could be one that shocks a bit.

One thing that most are surprised by however it that he is a fan of Breezango, the tag team made up of Fandango and Tyler Breeze. They may be the most perfect pairing of singles workers in some time, with gimmicks that simply work well together. It made total sense to have them work together, but WWE didn’t seem to put them together until recently. Thankfully they did, and the Chairman seems to be happy with them so far.

That means we can probably expect the duo to get some extra attention and they may even end up in the tag team title hunt before too long. If there are two sets of tag titles, there is a good shot that they go to the brand that needs to crown new ones. There they could become champions quickly, even over some established tag teams. When McMahon likes a tag team, he pushes them until he sees the value run out. With both Breeze and Fandango doing well with all they have been given to do so far, we can expect his interest in them to continue for now.

When it comes to other tag team material, many think that WWE will have to intentionally feel some tag teams have run their course in order to truly break them up. With Shane and Stephanie McMahon having to pick a lot of their talent initially, it would make sense for fans to not imagine that a random pick would occur like in the past where they have a computer decide things for them.

We all know creative picks where people go anyway, it would be a bit different if teams were broken up by Shane and Stephanie, as it would mean a bit more knowing that teams could have been kept together if not for the pick of a certain McMahon. This will surely be played out on television for sure. Expect things to get very interesting in the WWE Draft, which is rumored for July 11th.
