Honey Boo Boo’s Mom Claims Her Family Is ‘Very Relatable’

Honey Boo Boo’s mom, June Shannon, claims that her family is “very relatable” despite being having a popular television program on TLC, according to US Magazine. Shannon — who is responsible for churning out children with such names as Honey Boo Boo, Chickadee, Pumpkin, and Chubs — claims that folks have told her that they can relate their her family.

During a recent interview with Ryan Seacrest on his radio problem, Shannon explained that folks use their TLC program as a form of escapism.

“Our fan base tells us that when they have a bad day they can be able to watch our show and be able to get a good laugh; I honestly laugh at the show too because it is kind of funny, because we know we have fun filming it. It’s just all about having fun making memories.”

Honey Boo Boo, meanwhile, is still deciding whether or not she wants to return to the world of beauty pageants. According to Shannon, the ball is in her daughter’s court.

“When Alana says ‘I don’t wanna do any more TV, I don’t wanna do any more pageants,’ we’re done. We go back to our regular life,” she explained to Seacrest. “Sugar Bear still works seven days a week, the kids still go to school and we live our lives normally. Nothing has really changed since the show.”

However, should Honey Boo Boo and pals find themselves back on the pageant circuit, her infamous Mountain Dew and Red Bull combination — lovingly referred to as “Go-Go Juice” — is apparently off the menu.

“That was a one time and one time only thing and we don’t do that no more,” Shannon stated.

In addition to fame, the TLC show has put the family under the proverbial microscope. According to People, a video of Honey Boo Boo dancing on a bar drew the ire of child protective services. After an investigation, however, no charges were filed.

“It was the worst four days of my whole entire life,” June stated. Regarding the bar dancing incident, she explained, “[It was] a meet-and-greet at a concert. After I left, I realized, ‘I’m not gonna put Alana in that situation again because it was crazy.’ “
