The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll is getting film treatment once more.

Reports are saying that BiteSize Entertainment, Ron Bloom’s multi-platform entertainment studio, has a new Elvis Presley film in the works. Announced by the production company Tuesday, the planned film will adapt Conversations with the King: Journals of a Young Apprentice, a book that chronicles David E. Stanley’s 17-year relationship with Elvis, into a feature film.

In case you don’t recognize Stanley’s name, he moved into Graceland at the age of four. Elvis, his step-brother, built a relationship with Stanley and served as both a mentor and a father figure to him. That story was turned by Stanley (and David Gruder) into the book that the film will be based on.

Gene Kirkwood and Ross Elliot have been announced as the producers on the Elvis film, titled Growing Up Graceland. The film will explore Elvis’s relationship with Stanley as well as the former’s final years of life.

“After meeting David Stanley, reading his book and listening to his stories, I realized there is another side to the Elvis phenomenon — a bigger story — and one that has never been told,” Kirkwood said in a statement. “This is the story of his life outside the public glare, an amazing journey of family and faith, and one that I was immediately convinced had the power to live on the big screen and extend across multiple channels of entertainment.”

Kirkwood and Elliot lead BiteSize’s film production studio, which launched at Cannes and has since announced several projects including an action franchise with The Fast and the Furious director Rob Cohen and the dramatic-comedy Mad Dogs and Englishmen starring Colin Firth.
