‘Final Fantasy 15’ Release Date, Gameplay Details Released: Flying Cars To Replace Airships?

The Final Fantasy 15 release date has been revealed alongside gameplay mechanics that could further separate the game from its predecessors. It appears Square Enix wants to re-invent the whole game after a failing interest in the series in the past decade. Even the port of Final Fantasy VII for the current generation seemed to only point out everything that was wrong with the original.

Final Fantasy 15 seems dead set on changing everything veterans remember about the game, even apparently taking a cue from The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. It appears from the platinum demo that the game takes place in the dreams of Noctis Lucis Caelum as he traverses his fantasies and battles nightmares in monster form while collecting crystalline objects. The gameplay appears to borrow heavily from platformers like Jak and Daxter.

While the Final Fantasy 15 release date is actually going to have three playable characters in it, that’s not really the surprising part. Throughout the series, it has been a regular option to switch out the playable characters, each one with differing strengths and weaknesses. The biggest difference is the similarity to Kingdom Hearts with its combat system. Even the active time battle system becomes antiquated as the Final Fantasy 15 release date focuses on a more action-heavy gameplay style.

Many gamers feel this is too big a departure from the Final Fantasy they’ve grown to love, and that the platinum demo doesn’t even feel like it belongs in the series. Another mainstay longtime fans might miss is the airship, a mode of flying transportation that often opens the world for maximum exploration. Chocobos will still be around, but the latest Active Time Report states that you might be going for a more Back to the Future-style option.

Flying cars will be faster than Chocobos with their travel options, but at a catch straight out of the classic NES title Top Gun. You will need to land it safely to continue with the game. If you crash, the game will bring you back to the moment before you left the ground. In that way, it might remind you of Assassin’s Creed II’s flying machine, a kind of mini-game where it’s too easy to crash, and you’ll end up restarting if you do.

Another big change coming with the Final Fantasy 15 release date will be the way the world isn’t open like some games these days. If you’ve played Assassin’s Creed: Rogue, you might be familiar with the fast travel option that exists between three different areas of the world. Much like in Final Fantasy 15, you don’t walk or travel physically between sections.

Other gameplay mechanics revealed include almost parkour elements, though Noctis can’t climb. Just think of it as a platformer and you’ll be ready to go. There will also be seven types of weapons, each linked to different sections of the game. Some of these sections could be spoilers, so the types of weapon likely won’t be revealed until the Final Fantasy 15 release date of September 30.

You will be able to save anywhere, so you won’t need to look for save points while you play. There will also be a skill tree much like most recent open-world games, where you unlock new abilities as you progress.

Will you give Final Fantasy 15 a chance on its upcoming release date this Fall?
